  1. This is not a negative question as I am thankful that TF is our quarterback.  He has done some great things in his season plus and hope he finishes the season strong.  It is not his fault that his brother is a veteran Super Bowl winning QB (regardless of what people think of his skills now) and a lot in life is not what you know its who you know but my question is if Tom's last name was say Flanagan instead of Flacco is he getting the same looks from scouts?

It’s part of the contact. Holy f’ing shit who is his agent?!?  1 year added every time he makes the playoffs?!! 24 of 96 teams make the playoffs. That’s over 25%. WOW. How the hell are we ever going to get rid of his sorry ass.

Incentives for all college coaches are jokes.  UCONN's Randy Edsall has accumulated about $40,000 in bonuses this year even though they have only 1 win this season.

I'd pay $10 for the season.  It's not all the games and I'll be at the home games. Would be nice if this was included in our season ticket holder perks.  The caps do that with monumental sports network. Hearing from friends that have DCU season tickets FLO sports is a joke.

I read an article saying that FLO sports was having issues during the DCU broadcast.  Yeah I will follow @Towson_fb and the chat.  No way I'm paying.

  4. As mentioned above scheduling at our level is certainly not easy.  I do not expect an “Power 5” school to come to the SECU every year because it is just not going to happen. But once every two or three years there must be some kind of team that gets people on campus and around the area excited to see at Towson.
This is what the 7th season (damn time flies) of the arena and who was the biggest name team to come?  Temple?  You can’t tell me that we cannot get Temple type of schools to come in every other year or so.  They are going to hang their hat on Kent State and George Washington as headliners but that is not going to move the meter.  Like Chris said earlier you must play the local teams.  It helps to keep cost down as you do not have to worry about travel and hotel stays, but those savings could be used to help draw other teams to play us.  Villanova is not walking through that door, but a Providence can.  I mentioned no Power 5 schools but when we think like that, we think Michigan or Ohio State, but Rutgers can certainly walk through our doors. (Haven’t we scrimmaged them in the past?), we have a relationship with Penn State through lacrosse we should be able to get them to walk through those SECU doors.
We talk about getting recruits that stay here and are productive all four years.  It helps in recruiting when you can say “this place will be jumping when you are on the court in front of a packed house when we play Temple, Penn State, Rutgers, Providence, fill in any other type of level school, in this building.”  Instead of hey Vermont and Kent State are coming in.”
I think part of the lack of name teams coining on our end is the fear that there will be more of the visiting fans than our fans.  That maybe true, but I was at both the Louisville game and the Michigan game and I can tell you Towson Center was rocking the then “Fight On Towson Tigers!”
I understand the athletic department does not want teams coming in to town and blowing us out, but you have to get people talking and scheduling the right teams helps that cause.

  5. Have not had a chance to post since it happened, but on Tuesday's Pardon the Interruption, Mike Wilbon in trying to compare something said something to the fact of "It's like Virginia losing to Towson State, in the tournament.  Later in the corrections portion of the show Tony Kornheiser corrected him by saying "Virginia lost to UMBC not Towson State."

Like John Chaney use to say "Any press is good press." Right?  At least they pronounced Towson correctly

  6. Northeastern released their 2019-2020 schedule.  Their OOC opponents: @ BU, home vs. Harvard, @ UMASS, home vs. Old Dominion, @ Holy Cross, playing in Fort Myers tournament, opponents not announced but participants include Kansas State, Northwestern, Pitt and Bradley, home vs. Maine, home vs. Davidson and @ Eastern Michigan.

I would take a similar type of schedule like that for the Tigers.  The College of Charleston tourney is probably better than the Fort Myers, but will the rest of our OOC match up?

LJ Owens (their PG from Annapolis) apparently is gone too.

To recap, they’ve lost Pierce, Milon, Audige, Owens & Brown (recruit from PG County who de-committed & is now going to St. Joseph). That’s a helluva lot of talent. Knight has until 5/29 to decide if he’s leaving his name in the NBA draft. He didn’t get an invite to the combine (neither did JWF from Hofstra, which is ridiculous). I doubt Knight gets drafted, so he can go G-League, Europe, or come back to a shell of a W&M team. I guess he could also transfer, but he’d have to sit out a year &would only have a year of eligibility left after sitting out.

While I have no sympathy for W&M (as I’m sure most of their supporters had no sympathy for us when ZM & Gorham bolted) I will say this-mid majors like TU, W&M & many others have basically been reduced to being farm teams for P5 schools. As soon as a kid at a mid-major has a good freshman or sophomore season, the P5’s come swooping in. It’s a lazy way for the P5’s to recruit, but successful nonetheless. Even if the kid they cherry pick won’t be a starter, he’ll be in the rotation in any event.

From now on, any time one of our recruits has a good freshman or sophomore season, we’ll be looking over our shoulder waiting for the possibility of him transferring.

ZM & Gorham; Pierce & Audige; the guy from UNCW who went to Arkansas; Gresham (NE) to Georgia; Ahmir (Drexel) to Minnesota.

It's like the mid-major version of One and Done.  Instead of going pro, the player comes in for one year and then goes to a Power 5.

  8. Embarrassing.  I do not know why they continue to make it difficult for people to watch their conference sports.  WTH?  I am a huge sports fan and think I have a pretty good idea of different tv stations and websites but NEVER have I heard of flosports.  If I haven't I know most other people haven't either.  You HAVE to make it easier for the casual or heck even the big time sports fan to find your product in order to watch it.  TERRIBLE, just TERRIBLE, but unfortunately not surprising.

  9. Whenever any of the teams we care about on here have any success it is usually early.  Past examples 2018 Football, 2019 Lacrosse, 2017-18 Basketball.  Is it once teams start to take notice or there is film on us the reason why other teams catch up and we struggle at the end?  If so and I am not saying this to get rid of anyone, but are coaching staffs not making any adjustments and still thinking previous success will continue to work?

It just seems to be the same narrative Towson (fill in the blank sports team) is off to a great start, they are ranked, moving up the ranks, getting votes etc.  Then there is one game where everything changes and in the case of football and lacrosse we just seem to be hanging on to early season success in hopes that gets us into the tournament.  Why doesn't our success last the whole year?  Look I know in the case of the lacrosse team it was a perfect storm of things that got us to #1 in the country.  No one thought we would stay there, but to get dominated at home by UMASS and not appearing to HAVE to win the tournament to get in something is just not right with our teams once we hit the home stretch

Williford would have been a good hire. Frankly, if I were a W&M fan, I’d be asking myself how is this new guy an upgrade over Shaver, other than he’s younger.

That's what you have to wonder when any team let's someone go.  It may not be the best but keep what you have may be better than what you get.  It is not as easy as "fire that guy" or "get rid of this guy."  Only time will tell.
