And the run comes to an end. Congratulations to Delaware, who played an unreal match and deserved the victory. Statistically speaking, Towson actually played a good match too. It was high level volleyball and Delaware are a team worthy of ending the dynasty. Nina Cajic, Irbe Lazda, Aayinde Smith, Rachel Hess, and a few others now say goodbye to the Towson program. I want to congratulate all of them on forming the nucleus of the best Towson Volleyball teams of all time, and wish them all the best of luck in the future. As for those who do return, we can’t pout forever. There is still a lot of talent in that gym, and the Tigers will compete again for the title next season. Onward we march.

Good to hear we have the framework to continue success.  Because they won the regular season this year means we already know we host next year correct?  TigersTigers thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, speaking for myself your commentary helped me enjoy this team even more these past seasons and looking forward to more.

"we may have one of the worst offenses in the country"     seriously?    lol, the sky is NOT fallin.  did anyone think we were gonna come 3-0 outta dis thing?   1-2 woulda been huge, but looking at the field; 0-3 was the play; and ....here we are.  jeez - back away from the ledge.    get some reps, get healthy, get some guys cleared (hopefully) and bring on league play.  all the folks who say "20+ wins dont matter, its only the conf playoffs" kick and scream when we lose to da big boyz in the reg season.    VENMO me if you wanna bet the Morgan St game..............

I think anyone and everyone would have been happy with 1-2 from this tournament probably even pleasantly surprised as most of us saw 0-3 coming out of this.  What is upsetting, embarrassing whatever adjective you want to use is the fact that our worst defeat from the weekend probably came from the game on paper we had the best chance to win and they got thoroughly whipped.  We would have been better off heading home after the Wake game instead of hanging around and putting that effort out there.

We have all seen this same show over and over and over again and the only constant is Skerry.  13 years it's time to go.  Even if he had one or two NCAA appearances it would probably be time to go.  Great guy and has done a lot for the program but it is time for new leadership.  Somehow someway they have to find a way to deal with the remaining years on his contract.  The first thing you do when you are in a hole is stop digging.  We have been in this hole for way too long and cannot continue shoveling another 3 years.

I know these “games don’t matter” but the Caa needs to go on board with something like this.  Guarantees two Non conf games a year and teams won’t be playing, mount olive, Arcadia, goucher and regent.

Agreed and like the idea but what other conference has 20 teams? (Exaggerating yes). The other worry would be what if they get killed in the challenge and go like 3-11.  That would be embarrassing.

  4. Also, not sure if the news made it out west about the CAA name change but according to them Towson plays in the Colonial Conference.  Thankfully they didn't throw in "State" when saying our name but I am pretty sure they threw in the extra in in Towson a few times!

Wasn't expecting a win but I just get frustrated with the continued stretches of poor play every game.  Was pleased they closed the deficit to 4 at halftime but then the Buffs have a huge run to start second half.  Who is the player on our team that can get us a bucket when we need to stop runs like that?  On to Coppin which better be our first win of the season.

  5. Great win, the ladies continue to represent Towson Athletics.  Was following through Twitter throughout the day yesterday.  I thought they won on PK's, but it was a PK save with 2 seconds left?  Was it a legit call?  Glad we saved it, would of been tough to go into OT giving up a goal with 2 seconds left even if it was a PK.

A hot goalkeeper can carry a team let's make some noise in the tourney!  (We get an automatic bid right?)

Very true, I have worked football gamedays for over 20 years for a Pennsylvania university that traditionally struggles and have seen the Marketing team scramble to announce a Player of the Game when the team is getting blown out, but they have to do it because it is a paid advertising spot.

  7. Mat thank you great work as usual.  Any idea the number of people that attended the Zoom?

It is kind of scary looking at the dollar figures that were mentioned.  Not only can Towson not get anywhere near those amounts currently but those numbers are just going to continue to grow and the gap will continue to widen.

I am only going with Mat's transcript of the Zoom as I did not attend but I was kind of annoyed reading Richard Kent's comments.  "I didn't do a deep dive today or preparation for this." "I would Google the GOH collective and look at the website."  The purpose of the Zoom last night was to gain more insight and one could presume that anyone who attended the Zoom has already viewed the website.

I regret you are perpetually offended. I am offended by your insinuation. Actually, it’s not an insinuation, you’ve out & out labeled me. You don’t know me or anything about me. Frankly, your comments border on being libelous

I think I mentioned that "I don't know you personally" and I apologize for said insinuation.  Maybe I should not have included your comment in all the other times I have heard someone labeled as articulate, but from my perspective I have seen and heard that word used in someone complimenting someone of color far more than someone who is not.

I’m surprised you would even ask such a question, like all college students are per se articulate and personable. Do you teach college students, because I do. And I will tell you that some of them do not project as articulate and personable, perhaps owing to their being absorbed in their iPhones and social media. I meant my posting as a compliment to the young man I spoke to, and am baffled how anyone could deflect it the way you did

I never said it wasn't a compliment and no I do not teach college students but I live with one and I am around his friends.  Teaching college students does not qualify you nor disqualify me for commenting on your statement.  Why would Towson put someone on the phone that would represent them in a negative way? If a player was not "articulate and personable" do you think the athletic department would hand them a phone and ask them to dial a person Towson has business with?  The definition of articulate is the ability to speak.  "an excellent ambassador" is all you needed to say.

I do not know you personally but I would guess that if Christian May was on the other line I doubt that you would use the word articulate to describe him and your conversation.  If I am wrong so be it.  Before anyone goes down "woke" society road, as a black man I have felt this way, way before "woke" has been used the way it is now.  Trust me I am not calling anyone racist but certain terms are always used for some and not others, so that was the reason why "anyone (in this case me) could deflect it the way you (I) did."

So, I’m driving yesterday when I get a phone call. I recognized the prefix (704) as being associated with TU, so I decide to answer. And who’s on the other end of the line but Charles Thompson, calling to thank me for being a season ticket holder, as part of a campaign where players are calling season ticket holders.

We had a brief conversation and I must say he was extremely articulate and personable, and I came away thinking what an excellent ambassador he is not just for the team, but the university as well. I have no doubt he will be a success in whatever endeavors he pursues once he leaves TU

Nice to see Towson doing a cool outreach like this.  It's something that has been done for awhile around the college and professional sports.

Not sure why you had to mention that CT was "extremely articulate and personable".  As if it was a total shock.  Would you expect a college student not to be able to speak and be kind on the phone?

Why was it such a surprise?

A rare agreement. What horseshit. So now there will be more 15-17 record teams (or worse) who probably don’t want to be there.  Awful awful

Unbelievable.  Yet another idiotic decision.   Those teams from the Power 5 that qualify don't care.  At least with the automatic bid to teams that do not win their tournament you have schools with players that actually give a $hit.  NCAA never ceases to amaze me with their crap.

  13. A win of course would be nice but what I want to see is how they perform and continue to improve.  Do they continue to progress upwards and play at or around the level they played last week or lean back towards how they played vs. Norfolk.  Like I said a win would be nice but what I don't want to see is a blowout loss.  Compete and improve.

Well it does say "this weekend" and with the Twerps finally venturing out of the state this weekend...

As for the tailgating video posted earlier, great atmosphere but if only 50-75% of those there went into the stadium for the game then it is not tailgating but just a place to gather and have a party.  If that is the case then yes I can see why admin made changes.  I'm showing my age here but "back in my day" when I attended there was no tailgating and from the looks and sounds of it when it was brought back they gave the naysayers plenty of opportunity to shake their heads and say see "told ya".

Tailgating is not the end all be all for why more students do not attend games, yes it helps, but consistent winning needs to be a part of it too.  It would help if they could somehow find more "idiots" like myself and maybe some on this board that are sports enthusiast that come out and support their school in person no matter how they are doing and come out to Minnegan/The U even if it meant missing whatever ranked vs, ranked game was on TV.  This was pre smartphone days too so I sacrificed many Florida St. v Miami type battles to partake in Towson v Northeastern, Liberty, Buffalo (pre their moves to I-A), Central Connecticut to name a few type duels.
