    MBB edges Northeastern 70-67

We got our first conference win after having two games postponed already. Cam Holden is playing with a mask and put up a double double cause he is a stud. Charles Thompson is quietly having a great season for a big man who has started in all 15 games averaging 25 minutes with 8 points and 5 boards a game. We get another season of him!!! How many times have bigs come into their own only to be Seniors for us and gone? More importantly Charles was 5-6 from the line today and hit 2 crucial free throws for us in the second half. Lots of bigs can’t make foul shots and he’s steadily improving Nick played better in the second half. Rizzuto struggled with his shot but still contributed 7 bench points for us Gray aside from a silly turner on the behind the back dribble and some defensive lapses gave us 12 and 7 today. We barely had Nolan and we got the win. Enjoy it. This was a crazy week of Covid surges etc from the holidays. Can we enjoy a victory and ease up on these guys They are not Pros!!!! A good team has guys that step up when other players struggle. Of course we could play better and we have a shot to prove that against probably the best team in the league on Tuesday night. Swing by and support this group cause I can’t remember the last time we had a core of guys who want to be at Towson and want to win for us all.

1-1 in the CAA with a huge game against Hofstra at home on Tuesday. Enjoy the ride.

    Delaware preview

I’m hoping back to regular conference schedule by February for all of college basketball. A mess here again and we live in a so-called bubble with masks on the whole time.

    MBB falls to Drexel 65-61

We still have 17 more games to play though. A go to guy will emerge from this group.

    MBB falls to Drexel 65-61

I appreciate you desperately wanting to win and wanting accountability but this was only the first game of Conference play. Credit to Drexel for protecting their home court. We almost stole this one. These guys are not Pros.. College guys. Ease up some. We can easily bounce back and beat Delaware. This is a solid group with a chance to win 20 games this season. Let’s get behind them instead of tearing them up right now. On to Delaware. PS- None of us expected Cam to play and he gave us 14 points with a mask on. Nolan came back for the second half and despite not getting it done he had zero turnovers and 3 steals. CT is becoming a legit big man! We got a good group this season. Let it play out.

Proud of this group for representing Towson and many wins are gonna come this season. Keep grinding guys. Gibson and Timberlake won’t go 3-17 again and we will hopefully have Rizzuto back for Delaware.

Yep hitting hard here now. Entire WCC slate for tomorrow postponed. I hope everyone on this board and families stays vigilant and healthy. My coworker got this week and luckily he wasn’t at Jobsite but he got very sick (healthy guy in his late 20’s)

7 players!!! Geez. Then maybe allow 6 fouls instead of 5.

Just when we think we can have nice things…

Oh geez. Tough guy cause that happened in the first half and he still played. Well like a trade deadline acquisition we will get Cam back in time to make our CAA run. Not season ending and thank god we have Gray and others to pick up the slack.

Timberlake leads MBB to 69-52 win over Navy

John James was a shot blocker. One of the nicest guys on campus when I was there. I’m sold now on Rizzuto and his shooting skills. 19-44 from 3 now and looks really comfortable in this stretch. Him, Holden, NT and Gibson all shooting over 40% from 3. And with Thompson playing his best ball right now (his hands are so much better) we can really be balanced. Gray and Paar know their roles and are gonna really help us in conference play. Enjoying it all especially transfers getting to play right away etc. Listening to Mike Montgomery last night on the Hawaii game telecast I can sense there is gonna be a big push to change this rule back etc. Reshuffling the deck each season is kinda cool from a fan’s standpoint and for a program that wants a quick turnaround. Skerry and staff really struck gold with some of our newcomers. Holden just does so many things on the floor that don’t always show up in the stat sheet.

🤞 they come back and conference play begins. Despite thinking we have 😷 under control here while at today’s game @USF vs Southern Illinois they had game attendants holding signage up and enforcing everyone in the gym to keep their masks on. Always have enforced checking your vaccination cards at the entrance to get in and that you have a mask on but many fans don’t fully wear and today they really cracked down fearing for the worst. I would hope that 🏀 arenas across the country enforce all fans to keep their mask 😷 on and up. These kids have worked their asses off and I don’t want to see any stoppages.

(13 teams) Geez my math was off.. sorry.. 77-77 Kent State 5-5 Albany 4-8 USF 12-1 Coppin State 1-14 Hampton 4-7 Ohio State 8-2 Pitt 5-7 Navy 7-4 Long Island 3-7 New Mexico 7-6 Monmouth 10-2 Penn 3-10 UNC Greensboro 8-4

If my math is correct. Non conference opponents combined for 80-77 record thus far and we played zero cupcakes!!! No one thought Coppin would be 1-14 to start. If we continue to share the ball and knock down 3’s at this pace there is no doubt in my mind that is a 20+ win team. 11-7 in conference play is extremely attainable. Congrats to staff and players. 9-4!!! Spiro said it best today.. fast and furious pace of assists that truly hasn’t been seen the past decade during the Skerry era.

Sorry to hear. Stay vigilant. I lost an Aunt to Covid and had a few coworkers get “death bed” sick from it. We haven’t ever stopped masks rules here in San Francisco and hopefully 🙏 it will pay off in the long run.

Make no mistake…. If and when Towson dances I’ll be there and buying you and 2012 and the rest of this board drinks.. in Dayton or Portland or Des Moines… makes no difference. We may differ at times but we are Towson and I always have your backs. Again we couldn’t do any of this discussion when I attended. Luxury really now with Spiro reports, this board and the rest of the social media we have. Imagine if we had this kind of access when Kurk Lee was playing!!

We are all curmudgeons on this board for the most part. That wasn’t a knock on you. That’s the truth! Decades of losing will cause that and more importantly knowing that Towson easily could have been the Gonzaga of the East in basketball if they played their cards right in my opinion. We need more fresh blood like Tigers2012 to balance things out. I wish you would talk more about your Terrapins… Navy game is not until Wednesday.

    General MBB thread 2021-22

Stop. Never pumped up to Duke like. That would be Gonzaga. USF has a legit NBA draft pick in Bouyea and luckily Golden was able to add “3” transfers this season who all start. So pumping up cause this is his last hurrah before he is stolen away by a Power 5 conference and they legitimately can make the dance as an at large bid. If they don’t make the Dance then this is a failed season in my opinion. Would have loved to see Towson play at full strength against them and who knows if they cross paths later on this season.. can never say never. You are just an old curmudgeon who is a suffering Towson fan like the rest of us.. not sure why you have a bone to pick with me. I have supported you on this board and thanked you for all your insights. We’ve never met in person so not sure why you feel the need to break my balls? Enough said.

Great point and coupled with coaches like Dana Altman who despite struggling in non conference will continue to play mid majors but Oregon has all the $$$ and he has job security there. Bobby Hurley may be in trouble though. Kyle Smith at WASU is playing mid majors home and away… quite refreshing.

    General MBB thread 2021-22

Yeah my initial response was to your Duke comment about playing mid majors and the WCC overall but whatever. We played USF back to back now and if my source is correct again in 2023 or 2024 due to the strong relationship PS has with Golden so mentioning is truly not a big deal. They were once a prominent program that suspended themselves after the Quintin Daily allegations and except for 1998 never has returned to greatness. To go 10-0 to start has been amazing with a coach who just may land higher than a PAC 12 gig. Todd Golden is a geek ball analytics guru. Considering the changes PS has made this season and it has worked.. maybe playing USF last season influenced him. Both teams are gonna go far in conference play so it’s a win win for me.

    General MBB thread 2021-22

Ok I get. Don’t mention USF again. God forbid. I’m a Towson fan who lives in SF raising kids who follow USF. They had 10 days off and came back against a legit Grand Canyon team on the road in no shooting rhythm. Hofstra was 20-23 from the line yesterday. Huge CAA win.
  22. Bay Area Tiger

    General MBB thread 2021-22

10 days off and didn’t shoot it well tonight. 18% from 3 when usually shoot 38%. Killed on the offensive boards. Hofstra has some close losses. Get this one over Muss!!!

Didn’t mention USF. Talking hoops. Talking Towson basketball solely and this board could die. 😀

    General MBB thread 2021-22

West Coast Conference is now 12-10 against Power 5 Conferences this season. Gonna kiss away some of these games for next season I’m assuming. Only mid major conference with a winning non conference record against the big boys.

    MBB tames UNCG 74-64

I seen it all the time with guys coming back from knee and Achilles. Takes some time to forget about the injury etc. Didn’t help that Gray got the infection. But overall safe to say his best basketball may be ahead of him as he continues to feel confident and forgets about the injury. We are truly lucky to even have him back.
