Timberlake, Holden lead MBB over Kent State 73-58

Monmouth now 7-1 USF is 9-0 Pitt 2-6 We want the Pitt game back of course! Other 2 losses to legit teams. We have a shot at 3-1 record before conference play. 9-4!!! Not bad at all!

Timberlake, Holden lead MBB over Kent State 73-58

Hicks has averaged 22 minutes a game thus far and that will probably decrease with other guys back and so much he has to improve on offensively but he is a true freshman and only has 8 turnovers to go along with 11 assists and 13 steals. Is he a diaper dandy.. no! But he’s really been a pleasant surprise when none of us expected him to play this much. Guys are filling roles right now. Gray as Matt mentioned fills a role. NT & Cam are the 1-2 punch it seems. CT & Paar are filling roles. Rizzuto and Gibson doing their part. Nolan comes back Wednesday or after and we have a legit 10 man rotation this season.. 10 players I think all of us can agree on that give us quality minutes. 6-3 and this is gonna be a fun CAA season with this group.

5 1/2 point 🐕 They make their foul shots… lets hope no home town ref cooking. Make Jacobs bounce it.. 50% from 3. In Cam we trust! Go Tigers

Holden leads MBB over LIU 72-63

Best highlights I’ve seen thus far… they always say bigs take a little longer to get going and CT/Paar really look more comfortable rolling to the basketball and more importantly knowing where the ball is coming from. Keep attacking the rim. I really like these pieces we have cause after 8 games they truly fit together unlike seasons past. Cam took only 3 shots in the first half and then had 19 points in the second half. He is truly the best thing to happen to Towson basketball.. He’s gonna account for 3-4 wins come conference play.

Holden leads MBB over LIU 72-63

Hicks makes it tough for the opposing guard to bring up the ball and I love that. Our bigs played well. We knew Long Island was brutal from beyond the arc. Cam does it all.. hustles his ass off. 5-3 going on the road. Hoping for a split!

    LIU preview

Both teams struggled from beyond the arc but luckily we have Cam!!! 19 second half points. Not many fans before a 3 game road-trip. This squad is growing on me. Enjoyed

6-24 against the Chickens tonight. Must win Thursday or else PS!!!!

    General MBB thread

This is good stuff. I think by season end.. CT, Paar & Hicks will all be averaging more points per game as they get into conference play and opposing teams focus on Holden and Nolan. Thursday against Long Island (1-4 currently) They have shot 32-122 from beyond the arc thus far. We need to continue to buzz around (Hicks) and force them into bad long distance shots.

Timberlake leads MBB to 73-58 win over New Mexico

USF had 23 turnovers last night and escaped with a win. 8-0 now and will be ranked. UAB was super athletic and defended well. That all being said our Tigers should go on a run now with guys returning after playing high mid major competition.

Timberlake leads MBB to 73-58 win over New Mexico

Huge win on a neutral court on a second leg in Vegas. Credit to players and coaches. Now parley this into a 3 week winning streak please.

MBB falls to San Francisco 71-61

Assuming yeah.. we missed a lot of bunnies yesterday.. New Mexico will tell us a lot this evening. Good shooting teams bounce back.

MBB falls to San Francisco 71-61

Weird game overall. Bouyea is a pro and the difference maker. Ton of free throws for us. No quit with this group and couldn’t always say that with previous squads. Still don’t see where we will all of a sudden be a better shooting team.

    Las Vegas Invitational preview

University of San Francisco Bill Russell KC Jones Phil Smith Chubby Cox (Kobe’s Uncle) Bill Cartwright (who lives next to campus and attends all home games) (Walks my neighborhood.. great man) Aside from those players I think of Quintin Dailey (Cardinal Gibbons) and all the controversy with the rape allegations and then the entire basketball program being shutdown.. I personally think he was wrongly accused! Now for the 2021-22 squad.. Jamaree Bouyea is an NBA prospect who I think will have a long career similar to Patty Mills.. second round selection. He is not afraid to shoot it from Curry range and he’s just so smooth going to the rim. He’s gonna get his points but the key is to limit him setting up all “3” big men who will come up and screen for him then roll to the basket. Khalil Shabazz is a microwave at times but hasn’t really shot it consistently from beyond the arc in 6 games. He’s the fastest guard I’ve seen so I can’t wait to see Hicks defend him Gotta force Shabby to shoot from the corners. Gabe Stefanini is a glue guy and plays like a grizzled veteran.. groin issue so not sure how much we see of him He’d be the guy to guard Holden so hence his absence really could change the outcome of this game in my opinion. Patrick Tape plays solid defense and does the dirty work. He’s had issues with his hands on the offensive end. 6’10” glue guy. Massalski is 6’9” and our poor man’s Sabonis. Has some post moves and can attach the basket but prone to turnovers and silly moving screens etc Awful at the free throw line. That all being said he could easily be an All WCC selection this season. Thompson and Paar will have their hands full. Bench… Julian Rishwain can create his own shot and is a really good shooter. Loses his man on defense a ton. Dmitri Ryuny was out 4 months with an ankle injury. Can really stroke it from 3 when he’s on. Another guy who struggles on defense. Josh Kunen really can stroke it from 3 as well. Solid defender. Aussie glue guy as well. Markovetssky is 7’2” and does a nice job inside… good foul shooter and must be boxed out as he seems to get easy out backs a lot To beat USF.. full court press them early and often so they can’t get into their offense until 15 Seconds left on the shot clock and that forces Bouyea to play 1 on 1 which he’s good at but it will wear him down. You can’t let them go on runs of hitting 3’s.. timeouts to break up their rhythm a must. Like Gonzaga they play at a fast pace. Very susceptible to back door cuts and losing their man and athletic slasher type players have hurt them. If Towson can defend and not let USF shoot 35% or better from 3 then it will be a 8-10 point loss! USF is just too big up front and Towson doesn’t have enough to defend that

Holden leads MBB over Penn 76-61

I just listened to the Todd Golden show (USF head coach) and probably a B5 hire for 2022-23.. Cal or somewhere assuming. He talked about what Pat has built at Towson and that we are a really gritty team. Then said how we didn’t have a D1 win and Pat turned it around. Obviously a long time ago but perception seems like Pat is still revered by his fellow coaches across the country.

    Penn preview

All good Matt as you spoil us anyhow with insights and coverage. Once USF preview is up I’ll share my insights as I’ve watched all 6 of their wins in person. Hicks vs Shabazz is really gonna be fun assuming he gets the assignment. And most likely the guy who would be guarding Holden is out which really makes things interesting. Bouyea is a legit NBA prospect who is playing with Curry like confidence. He can easily take over games. Any chance of beating USF.. you must press early and often until they can consistently break it. Only 2 ball handlers right now in Shabazz and Bouyea if our Italian friend is indeed out.

I didn’t get the bet in as Little T in FLA wasn’t picking up his cell and probably had to make a run for Joey Merlino. Damn it.

Only 7 turnovers. John Chaney style of game. Take care of the ball and you always have a chance to win

As good as USF has been. Not sure what answer they will have for guarding Holden.

Gonna need Hicks against USF. Nice to see. And shh. USF probably will be without one of their starters on Thursday. Groin issue.

I remember back in the day we didn’t leave campus until Wednesday cause of classes.. I’ll assume Towson is off all week for the Tgiving break? My gut says Nolan bounces back and goes off for 20+ tomorrow.
