JMU waves goodbye to CAA, Towson in a 56-10 romp

Heading to the Pit next season. Sept 17th. Bucknell as well. Exciting times ahead.

MBB falls to Pitt on the road 63-59 (story up)

I had heard the previous New Mexico staff had promised Skerry a steak dinner in Vegas for the Zane trade but now with Pitino in charge no gifts of any sorts to be accepted by Towson.

If I have the math right. Our “5 shooters” are 23-84 from beyond the arc in 4 games Only a small sample size and I’ve not included Gray who we know can shoot it pretty good. Look around the college landscape. I like that we have a bit more talent now and that they share the ball and make better decisions however I still don’t see where this group is gonna light it up from 3 and lets face it opposing teams will force us to shoot more from outside if they know certain guys can’t consistently knock down a 3. Last night was crazy cause of so many in and outs but I don’t see where this team is all of a sudden gonna be a great perimeter shooting team. You gotta have a specialist or two off the bench that knocks down 3’s.. the good mid majors all do now. Pat hasn’t evolved with the game plain and simple. Good guy but did he watch the tape of the UNCW game with Pitt?? Despite playing so so defense late second half and shots not fallen I question what his game plan was. Are we gonna see more of Hicks, Coleman, Gil and Biekeu in non conference play? I sure hope so cause we need more depth going forward as the past shows we have a few guys vulnerable to break down.

Penn lost to Davidson and I’m not surprised. They were 8-27 from 3. Davidson is really big. Need a home win Tuesday. Not exaggerating cause come Vegas it could be a slaughter. This is the best USF team since they last danced in 98’ and New Mexico always tough assuming they will lose to a UAB with a legit 7ft in their starting lineup and who only lost to South Carolina by 3. I’m gonna see Morgan State on Monday. Always fun to talk to a Baltimore fan or two. Miss Towson so damn much so even despite the heartache this evening I needed to listen and think about Towson.

    MBB routs Hampton 78-54

You’ll see Paar for possibly 25+minutes (averages 13 minutes a game) on Thanksgiving night against the Dons who start Patrick Tape (6’10”) & Yauhen Massalski (6’9”) and bring Volodymyr Markovetakyy (7’2”) off the bench

Always enjoy hearing Chuck. 6 players with 2 fouls a piece in the first half with 3 minutes left was nuts. I’ll enjoy this win but of course we have to shoot better from 3.

My son has to attend a JC now after my last bet. I can’t touch this game with an 11ft pole! -8 is too much. I can say if we lose this game then this forum will go ballistic. Must win game. Go Tigers. PS- If things don’t work out.. I 🙏 they do.. Pick up the phone and call Bucky McMillan at Samford. Holy cow I love Bucky style ball. He’s a rising star in college basketball coaching.

Slow start dooms MBB against Monmouith 79-71

Drexel looks legit again. Led Cuse in first half. Share the ball.. impressed.

Big crowd shows up and we lay an egg. Damn. I was listening and Spiro had to get in the Truax classic line.. “never ever been a shutout in college basketball” I was at USF-Davidson yesterday and both teams had a ton of size. On Thanksgiving in Vegas.. Pat you must press all game or we will lose by 30.

Towson -4 Easy cover. Daddy Warbucks putting his $$ on Towson as well. Enjoy the games. Lucky. Stuck with masks on in San Francisco. Trash dumped everywhere and the case has be opened just for a pack of gum from my neighborhood Walgreens. I’m living a crappy life here.

I just returned from the USF game where they obliterated a LUI team that Towson will be seeing on Dec 2nd. This USF has “3” new starters via the new transfer portal rules and will be an at large dance team this March.. no doubt in my mind. Bouyea returned and he will be playing in the NBA down the line like Patty Mills previously from the WCC. That being said I think Towson & USF going with more experienced guys via the transfer portal is obviously a common trend across the country. Haven’t looked at every roster but you’ll be seeing less and less playing time for freshman I assume. College basketball in general will be so much better to watch this season. Only one game in but Nolan looks like the PG we’ve been longing for and Hicks the heir apparent. I saw a team that loves to be playing with each other in Albany.. Just a taste but I saw team ball tonight!

Only 9 turnovers but 3 of them late in the game when it was already over. Basketball IQ looks much improved. Only one game but can’t wait to see Monmouth now. Love love the guys we added. What a shot in the arm. Nolan is legit!!!

    What is the point?

I can’t speak for that area of the country but in NorCal youth football participation has been swinging back up since the concussion scare took hold years ago. I personally feel it is the safest it has ever been right now. I think more injuries often occur because kids are training 24-7 instead of taking an off-season. EG/Top recruit for Serra HS out here (Brady alum) tore his knee but heard his father was never giving him a day off and weights+++. Every kid and their body is different of course. I got to Towson in the Fall of 91’.. was well informed about football trying to eliminated before then and at the time being a huge hoops fan I was like yeah lets become a Gonzaga type where we dump all of our eggs into one basket team etc. Then I attended 🏈 games and realized we had a very small yet super passionate fan base. I don’t want to see Towson lose their football program guys. I understand your frustration and wanting to win more etc.. truly do. But right now we all need this football program no matter what.. I can’t be there but I would implore all of you to go this Saturday and enjoy the leaves 🍁 the crisp air the game etc. I believe you’ll say ok we need Towson football in our lives still. Always healthy to criticize and demand more and want to win and show hit pride as an Alum. Mistakes have been made and some poor decisions however I don’t question the work ethics or passion of these players and staff. No way to compare but I’m in the midst of a HS season where we thought we would be city champs and we are stuck at 2 wins for a various amount of reasons. My son the QB has gotten crucified by fans etc. So I feel for Ferguson… never easy. Ok enough from me as I suffer out here in NorCal. You don’t realize how special of a place Towson is until you leave and can’t really get back there. Better days are ahead…. Thanks for sharing all your views.. imagine if we had no forum to discuss. Oh wait I do…. I was in college with no internet.

I’m excited to see how #23 Darrick Jones Jr has improved.. possible X factor for this squad? Hope we have improved our perimeter shooting.

    Fire Rob

I gotta agree…. he just doesn’t come off as a genuine guy in some of his interviews.. I don’t not like him but you can sense he’s tired of being questioned as the head coach post Covid and a change probably would be for the best.

    Off-season news and clips

One note for the Thanksgiving Night game against USF.. USF now ranked #34 and they have the largest team ever. Gonna shoot more 3’s than ever and run that Spurs 5 out offense a ton. Can’t wait to get some paybacks but we are gonna need to play our best.

This Dixon is a throwback type of player. Really enjoy his style etc. Fun to watch.
