    Yagizhan Selcuk commits to Towson

PS... 2012... Did you watch the games across the country this past season... constant shuffling is the norm. Lots of teams bring Freshman around slowly. Mental mistakes you get yanked... plain and simple. Do me a favor and watch Roy Williams coach... he yanks guys all the time no matter who they are. Sorry to support this shift going off topic. Welcome Yagi!!! I always enjoyed Hedo Türkoğlu and his game!!

    Yagizhan Selcuk commits to Towson

You make too much sense TSU88. Well said. I’m biased being a PS supporter and I’ll love Towson no matter where we finish in the standings. Something didn’t work last season. Maybe a partial mutiny I don’t know. The coach calls the shots and if certain players aren’t buying in then I’m happy they are moving on. This board has been super fair to all of them. We may question certain things but we’ve always had their backs since I’ve been reading Matt92 and the rest of you. New Arena and plenty of nice gear... trips. Almost wish some of these guys could understand how far the program has come. Welcome to the new guys... the show must go on.

Can imagine the call now from Sprio... “Yagi from 3... good! He launched that one from 7 West Bistro!” The show must go on!!!!

Fundamentally sound would really help this squad. In my experience with Euros it’s either sink or swim. They either get it and flourish or end up leaving after a season. I utimately like this move for the chemistry of this team. I hope all these guys totally buy in next season.

    Zane Martin asks for release

Hey hey!!! Something I can actually speak intelligently about. What a weird season for USD after Lamont Smith had a fight with his girlfriend in a SF hotel after the final game of the season here where Gray had 18. Ashame cause he had that program moving in the right direction. Gray is a serviceable big that plays solid defense. Consistency was his issue this season but lots of talent. Season to work on game and his body. No brainer... sign this kid!

    Zane Martin asks for release

Definitely not a Towson specific issue. Souley Boum (all freshman WCC selection) is leaving the University of SF after a great freshman season where he averaged 11 a game on a 20+ win team with only one graduating senior and a home schedule next season that features Stanford & Arizona State in addition to of course Gonzaga. Who knows anymore what makes some of these kids tick!!?? Winning sure isn’t always the desire and that is blatantly evident more and more. If a coach gets fired or you just didn’t fit the program then by all means but in this situation it’s a kid who wants to play up for a bigger school and more importantly doesn’t want to risk not starting as a sophomore. So again I have a lot of respect for college coaches these days.

    Grad transfer for next season?

Love the names... ha. Hot stove league for college basketball. I appreciate all the leg work guys.

    Thanks

    2018 schedule

Pepperdine had an awful season and fired Marty Wilson. Pencil in a win if we draw them. Total rebuild for that program.

    Zane Martin asks for release

Stunned. Well I’ll wait and see. The program must carry on. I’m as positive as they come and this puts a dent in my armor. Well better to be gone and start fresh then come back with guys who possibly aren’t happy in the program right!? I’ll support whoever represents us next season and I would just hope the AD supports Skerry 100% so that future recruits understand this is not some sort of epidemic and the coach is despised or something. He’s the man in charge and it’s his way or the highway!! 1960 or 1980 or now... that can’t change.

CD... you make way too much sense. Well said. What did we win with ZM!? Tremendous talent and good luck to him. The show must go on. Sorry I still love Skerry. Call me biased. He gets two more seasons and I applaud him for trying to change up the chemistry etc. It didn’t work this season. It happens. We had major expectations and it fell short. We will have low expectations next season but that’s not a bad thing. Our ultimate goal is to dance and we know that. I’m as frustrated as the rest of you. College basketball has the most parody we have ever seen now. Cut the guy some slack. Villanova are the champs. Jay Wright has built a team with tremendous chemistry. He doesn’t have every 5 star recruit. Skerry is not Wright but he literally came in and cleaned up our program. I love his energy and style. He’s gonna make it work. If I’m wrong then drinks on me when Towson travels to the West Coast. Our time will come!!! Mark my words.

And 1 of the 2 open ships goes to...

Gray was a West Texas Juco. We have hope!!!! What a drive last night. Um... Pac 12 having a bad year... football and now basketball. Clark Kellogg looks silly now after saying Ayton was the best he’s seen in decades. Ok USC out makes sense now. I’m still angry about St Mary’s... wink. One other note... do you remember the texting scandal with Sampson at Indiana!? Houston-Michigan will be a good one.

    Tough loss for Northeastern

Extra games ultimately help younger players. No one remembers who won a CBI,CIT, NIT title of course. No harm in playing more.... love the game!
  15. Bay Area Tiger

    Tough loss for Northeastern

Then why have St Mary’s ranked all season long!? They had a top 40 RPI. They’ve played in Anaheim and Orlando in the past week.. showcase tournaments. Why have a conference then!? They should just play as an independent. I get what you are saying but please explain to me the formula for making the Dance!? Top 40 RPI and not in.
  16. Bay Area Tiger

    Tough loss for Northeastern

St Mary’s lost in WCC semifinal but they beat Gonzaga in the regular season. Jock Landale will be playing in the NBA when it’s all said and done USC finished 2nd in the conference. Robbed for sure. The Mafia is more ethical than the NCAA... and if Pitino ends up coaching at a Power School again I’ll be laughin.
  17. Bay Area Tiger

    Tough loss for Northeastern

More games and if you have $$$ you play. Here University of SF has only 1 senior so they wanted more games. Not to rant but St Mary’s is the first top 40 RPI ranked team not to dance. Formula my ass. Oklahoma lost of 8 of 10 but tv wants Young in there. Texas was a mess all season but Shaka factor. Syracuse.. ha. And I keep hearing the 2 for 1 line. Yes you can get 2 for 1 games if you pay but you can also be denied because many BCS schools still don’t want to lose at your place. St Mary’s would play anyone anywhere. 28 wins and not in. Just sad.

Colgate out here at USF. Wish it were Towson instead. I get it though.

    Skerry time to go?

I’ll say it again... I was at the Elon game and waited in line with my buddies kids to get the chance to thank Morsell & Keith... after a loss but they just seemed like two players who were burnt out and ready for the season to end. Hey I took Richard Vatz’s communication class... he was at the game by the way... loved that guy. The old saying goes... sometimes the grass isn’t always greener... 18 wins right. Lavin had 21 his last season and was dumped for Mullin. How’s that working out?? 15-16! And now talk of Tubby being let go for Penny after back to back 19 win seasons. I know it’s tge current trend to hire ex players. Terry Porter with University of Portland not any better than Eric Reveno a byproduct of Mike Montgomery. Eric Musselman has made Nevada a great program. Not an ex player but dad coached and of course his stint with the Warriors. My point is... who is out there that we’d want better than Skerry!? What ex player could come in and bring the recruits if it’s truly all about “getting the players!” No set formula that works except for cheating and we aren’t gonna pull a New Mexico State where we sign criminals to come play for us. 2 more season for PS like others have mentioned. Leaders are made... We have two really good sophomores who could become that guy. Last thing.. mark Few with Gonzaga.. 18 straight seasons of making the Dance.. Small school.. crap gym until 2004... never has cheated that we know of... We are on the right path for success... I truly believe it!!!

    Skerry time to go?

I understand all of your frustration... I truly do. I want to dance desperately. Imagine showing up on campus the Fall after our second trip to the dance and then going through this drought of 27 years. I’ll take some of the blame being a mush. Call me Sunny CA optimistic but I still believe Skerry is the right guy to get it done. He comes directly from that Jamie Dixon tree of coaching and I’m not giving up on him. We expected more than usual this season with the depth and the experience we had on the roster. Didn’t happen. Fizzled out. 7 seasons.. 114 wins... better talent coming through the door... That being said it drives me nuts that the city of Cincinnati has “2” teams in the top 10 and we have the entire city of Baltimore pretty much to ourselves so to speak but I digress... Pat Skerry is our guy!! I don’t want another coach right now. 1-31 mess he battled through. He’s not perfect and neither are the players. We still won 18 games!!!! Yes we aren’t satisfied but our Sports Society is downright nuts right now to be quite honest... guys get fired all the time with winning records. Appreciate the passion on this board. At least we didn’t have a season like Pepperdine!! Feel better!?

    The Seniors

I truly thank our seniors for making the commitment to play at Towson. It may sound cliche but they had other choices but they chose us. Sure we are disappointed but they served and are counted for. We have talented underclassman and when I spoke to Clark in the Towson Center about the freshman Dottin coming in next season being an impact PG right away and he winked and said he’s really gonna be in the mix. Like what Matt pointed out about getting another 2 guard and moving Zane to the 3. Absolutely. If we lacked some leadership this season then maybe we need a graduate transfer from a BCS school whose had success in their conference tournament and if lucky has been to the dance. And I’m not saying this has to be a scorer of any sorts. A glue guy who takes charges and sets hard screens and passes the ball and wants to win and irritates the opposing team. Parker was like that... tenacious.. gave 110% all the time. EK showed signs of it each season. Hope this makes sense. The theme from day one this season was that we were super deep and that guys would have to sacrifice minutes and points for the better of the team. We did early on but then kinda fell apart. We need that Joe Dumars type of player that can score when we need him to but also is happy to play off of Zane and others. These “2” ships could really make or break us for the next 3 seasons as crazy as that sounds. Laetner or Grant Hill is knocking walking through that door but we need a player who wants to win at all costs and brings an air of confidence to the floor.

MBB falls in regular season finale to Hofstra, 91-86

Probably the best postgame chat with Skerry all season in my opinion. I liked that with all his frustration he made an emphasis to say he has 2 scholarships and would be going out to get really good players... I just like how he phrased it and this guy is how many seasons in and still has that fire burning. Didn’t know Dennis & Jordan need surgery after the season. Tough finish but at least we get another game. Zane shared the ball today and just can really fill it up.

    MBB falls at Northeastern 80-75

USF fan. But see a ton of St Mary’s games. And yes what a pipeline they have. Aussies coming every year and they are so mature, fundamentally sound and more important.. tough hard nosed kids. Then you got BYU and their whole scam that’s been accepted... 23 and 24 year olds still playing. Good points on the rest of the CAA... now I’m depressed Ha

    MBB falls at Northeastern 80-75

With the exception of Knight... rest are juniors and a senior. My point is JG is a sophomore. He has arrived. 2 more seasons with him. Not every guy comes into a program and plays right away. Bigs take longer to develop. Sorry I didn’t get that vibe at all from Gorham. I see a guy who is used to winning and gets frustrated. Skerry continues to recruit better talent... showing my age I know but you should have seen some of these guys that rolled into the Towson Center before our 1-31 season. At one point we had a Canadian player that was only known for dunking and never helped us. McNeil and Prophete I hope come back next season and make some of us eat our words. Enjoy the discussion.

    MBB falls at Northeastern 80-75

Back to the bright spot of Gorham having a huge game. I understand we all have expectations but I want to point out that bigs tend to take longer to develop. Many don’t play much their freshman year and then it really starts to click halfway through their sophomore season. We have this player for two more seasons and I’m elated. I have witnessed this first hand watching many bigs in the West Coast Conference Jock Landale with St Mary’s is a perfect example and same path as JG. Am I saying he’s gonna be POY... no! Just please give Bigs more patience please... How many mid major bigs are impact players in their first 2 seasons!!?? I think he’s gonna have 2 great seasons coming up
