  1. Just watched..  I appreciate his efforts but no one cares we’ve won 18 games or more 9 of the past 11 seasons if we win tomorrow night.  Sustainability of a program is great if you know bigger things are ahead but we don’t know that.  Have some nice parts but nothing indicates we will win the CAA anytime soon.

Fun fact Hubie Brown coached at my high school wayyy back in the day. Rumor has It, his offense was more advanced than Skerry’s. This was around the time we put a man on the moon…

90 years old you say?  That might be the age I am when I see the tigers in the tournament

    Cranford?  Rollie Massimo too!

  3. Quannas White is the associate head coach for Houston but has zero chance of taking over the program down the line cause of Kelvin Sampson’s son Kellen who is the heir apparent.
Quannas played 2 years at JC Midland before going to Oklahoma.  Played some ball in the CBA.  Louisiana native.
Interesting candidate for a future head coaching chance at a Mid Major.

  4. Lorenzo Romar *bounce back from Washington & 2nd stint with Pepperdine *hasn’t worked

Steve Lavin *UCLA, St John’s & now San Diego..  TBD

    Rick Pitino *Boston U/Providence/Kentucky/Louisville/Iona/St John’s

    Rick Barnes *George Mason/Providence/Clemson/Texas/Tennesse

    Damon Stoudamire *Pacific/Georgia Tech

Awful hire and disaster thus far

    Bob Huggins *Akron/Cincinnati/Kansas State/West Virginia

Today was the largest glaring example of what works in college basketball and what doesn't.  You can hang your shingle on defense and rebounding but you'd better have offensive weapons in order to do that.  The years we won the conference regular season and advanced in the CIT, we had guys that could score.  You have to go out and find more of those scorers and not just a bunch of brutes that look good in a weight room and can play defense and rebound.  Kelsey took the job at Charleston and set about finding the type of players that work -- they're big, they share the ball, they hit open shots.  Meanwhile, we plod along and run a low-post offense with zero movement and sometimes a wing and a prayer to get a decent look or a look before the shot clock expires.  Twice today, the shot clock was running out and who had the ball?  Mekhi Lowery.  That can't ever happen.  We were largely clueless on offense, finding zero ways to get Tejada open (1 shot in the first half) and showing very little interest in running anything that had ball movement to 3 sides of the floor.  Meanwhile, Charleston is slinging it all over the floor and playing an orchestra on our defense (especially Thompson and Paar) with the pick-and-roll action.  Charleston's the template of what we should aspire to be.  They have D2 players just like we do but they found the offense while we went for the bruising fullbacks.  With whatever time Pat has left on his contract, he needs to overhaul his philosophy to be more like Charleston.  Otherwise, we've already hit our ceiling and it's never gonna get crashed through.

    Spot on!

  6. Seeing what Kyle Smith has done with Washington State..  a school mind you left in the dust with respect to NIL funds and which is now demoted to the West Coast Conference the next 2 years..   Smith is gonna land the Ohio State job (Cleveland native)   He built the Aussie pipeline at Saint Mary’s and then single-handedly brought USF back to relevance.
If I’m a program in the mix for a new coach and direction then I’m trying to pluck away one of his assistants.   They just beat Arizona for the second time and have a shot to win the Pac12 for the first time since the 40’s.  Crazy.

  7. Less than 24 hours away.  Who is fired up for Xander Rice and Monmouth Part Deux?

Not holding Tarke to 3 points and our team 43 points this time around.

Blue out game means Tarke the 🦈 is coming

  8. Mad Dog had Tom McMillan on today to talk about Lefty..  great interview.
I forgot how he was in essence blamed for Len Bias and hence kept out of the Hall of Fame for decades.
Lefty may have taken Davidson to a National Title if Charlie Scott had decided to go there.
You had to win the ACC for a chance to dance back then..  how crazy is that notion looking back now.

Appreciate your coverage Mat1992…. I rely on you for 95% of my Towson Sports News.. a school so very dear to me.  Always be you and keep doing what you do.

There is much truth to what you say. There are a few exceptions to your rule.

Some coaches love the idea of planting a seed and watching it grow. I think a good example is Bill Coen at Northeastern. In my opinion, he is one of the finest basketball coaches around. He has been at Northeastern for 17 years. His teams have won conference championships and gone to NCAA. He has been Coach of the Year and should be a desirable coach. The "seed planter" is a rare coach, but nonetheless they do exist

All in all, you are likely right, but there are those that it is not all about "The Big Time". If you get one of them, you are a lucky program.

Lol. Plenty of your classmates have blocked me here. Take that as a badge of honor. And, no I’m not either of those.

there are plenty of gambling Assholes who comment crap. Block them, fine.  Those other posts from actual fans were questioning coaching and execution.  That’s an awful look but it’s Towson and Pat no show Skerry. Do we expect anything less???

This board has never blocked you from speaking your mind that I know of.  Bad loss today.  Frontier Airlines has now blocked me 🫣

  11. $4 on Amtrak from DC to Baltimore!!!!  Wow.
That was an excellent extremely detailed read.  I’ve only been to the Arena once.  It is sweet.
The SECU sign is still up..  set up a manlift rental and have Pat go up and take it down the day after we make the Big Dance 🪩 this season.  He can replace it with a tenporary sign that reads “NCAA Tournament 2024”

  12. And the band playing after the game with the singer.  Wow. That was great.  Super impressive

Youth was served last night..  Dylan, TT, Lowery & May combined for 91 minutes of play!  Yes yes I know the portal the portal will be calling but how bout the recruitment of Tejada and how talented this core is…. minus some foul shooting and defensive prowess we pray develops in the coming years.
Dare I say a formula going forward for us would be continuing to go after under recruited players and promising them a shot to prove themselves at Towson with a much better chance to move on to a Power 5 conference because of Towson development.   EG/Timberlake right now.
Am I off here or should we as a program accept the current landscape and be even more transparent about it?!   I’m sure we quietly may be telling recruits this but why not market it kinda like Calipari does with guys coming to Kentucky with the promise of the NBA right after.
