  1. There’s a general mistrust between the TUPD/SAFE and the student body when it comes to events like this. The students don’t want to risk a fine and citation at the game and this strong security presence up front on Osler intimidates the college kids. It creates a feeling of having to look over you shoulder instead of being able to enjoy  yourself when at the pregame festivities.

  2. I can confirm, as a freshman at the tailgates I felt seriously unsafe by the SAFE security. They Screamed at everyone to dispurse Lot 13 as soon as kickoff was about to happen. They aggresively hound people if God forbid they brought a cooler with more than a six pack in it. The demographic of people we need to attract to the games are underage students so why intimadate them in their first few weeks at their new school in a new environment? SAFE certainly is putting a bad taste in anyone's mouth who tries to support the program.

The parking lot at Towson is not West Baltimore, we don't need a militarized police force to harress the community. It's clearly not working.

We need to be more accommodating the female student population to attend games. Towson is 70/30 girl to guy ratio. Bring the ladies and the men follow. If all the beautiful girls at school will be uptown on Gameday then what incentive does a 19 year old guy have to choose to get bullied by SAFE in Lot 13 over going to the bars where all the beautiful people are hanging out?

Tim, Kim, Spiro, Rob whoever can see this please for the sake of the program you need to cut ties with SAFE security they are scum!

  3. What would you like this guy to do differently?

Social Media Promotion has definitely been improved this year on Instagram/Snapchat/Facebook

The Light Rails signs are kinda cool, but I think there’s gotta be something better.

    I think he needs to:

    -get the games on television.

-make friends on campus with grassroots partnerships with Greek Life, Black Student Union, Housing and Residence Life, The Honors College.

-Gifting tickets to local churches, sports organizations, corporate sponsors, and players. I think each player should be given 10 free tickets so their family and friends can see them play.

-Giveaways at halftime. Yes $25 gift card at the school store is nice but if you want to keep poor college students at the game throw out $100 turtle tab, TVs, pizza for a year. Gotta step it up from T-shirts and crab chips.

-Campus guerilla marketing. SGA sometimes rents go-karts and drives students around campus to class. Would be cool to see the coaches and players giving students rides to class and promoting the game.

-Create a positive tailgating atmosphere. Jimmy’s Famous seafood trucks? Beer gardens? Get Rec Room and CVP involved so they don’t steal the students away from game day with their day drinks. Allow fun, abolish archaic rules

-Make an on-campus shuttle dedicated to picking up students on one side of campus and taking them to the tailgate lot.

-gift students with a meal swipe for attending sporting events or a similar rewards program.

feel free to chime in your thoughts!

  4. That’s as tough a schedule as anyone in the country.

the only one I’m not sure of is if Bucknell is any good?

I like that we scheduled Florida. Give the guys something to look forward to during training camp and to impress recruits.

  5. I’m interested to hear your thoughts on University of Maryland’s decision to keep head coach Durkin after the investigation surrounding the death of Jordan McNair. Do you think he should have been removed? How will this impact recruiting? Will Towson benefit from transfers and parents refusing to send their sons to play football in college park?

  6. We seemed primed for the playoffs in 2012 when we played LSU tough but were kept out of the playoffs because of too many losses. We gotta win at least 2 of 3 which means a W this weekend needs to happen.

Elon is beatable, but they have beaten us before and have the confidence of taking down juggernaut JMU.

JMU is almost as good as NDSU we’ll have our hands full for sure last week of the season. However it could all fall into place that Towson/JMU is a heavy weight bought for the playoffs.

Exciting time to be a tiger fan, we need to draw large crowds at a home to stay Undefeated at the U.

  7. Deb Moriarty should publicly admit her poor decision making skills were absolutely detrimental to the program and as a result she’ll reverse her policy on tailgating.

why fund a top 10 football program if the administration actively works to prevent fans from attending?

I see see no other way to revive tailgating
