Gary Neal, Jamal White set to be inducted in HOF

Don't think you can really argue with anyone on that induction list.

3 Point Line Being Moved Back

There might be a negligible dip in percentages in the first year but it won't take long for players to adjust. There aren't too many out there who barely have their toes outside the line when they take 3's. I don't think 17 inches is going to make a giant difference as far as the quantity of shots taken. What it might end up doing is forcing teams who have to defend against those 3-point teams to come out far enough that it ends up opening more traffic lanes to the basket. In the good old days of the Princeton offense, I'm sure Pete Carril would be salivating at the opportunities a pushed-up defense would afford.

    2019 OOC opponents

There's a chance we could get Florida twice in less than a 10-day span. Good for the strength of schedule.

    Struggling to find words

As Spiro called the final play and it got to 7 seconds, I’m like ‘just take a penalty’. Can’t let their best player even have a sniff of a chance. Unfortunately, this is what we do with lacrosse - can’t put games away. Drexel, Duke, Denver, Ohio State in the Final Four a couple years ago. Gotta play to win and stop this ‘play it safe’ business.

    Struggling to find words

I have some words - stop playing the f’ing clock game!!! I know you have to kill most of that time but get into something with more than 15 on the shot clock. Just like a basketball team playing for one but the point guard pounds the ball and chucks a 30-footer. We nearly got burned last week. We did get burned today. And it’s capped off by a damn turnover in OT. At least get a shot in overtime and then you can say you tried.

    Future opponents

I'd also prefer to play them in week 0 or week 1 since it really doesn't matter what our skill level is coming out of the summer, we're gonna get whacked anyway. A lot depends on when those 1-A opponents have spots available. In Florida's case, they always play Tennessee the 3rd week of September to open SEC play and usually have at least one cupcake in the first two weeks of the season. But this year, they got into a week 0 game against Miami in Orlando and the SEC saddled them with another conference game during week 2. So we're the sandwich game between a home game vs. the Vols and a home game vs. Auburn.

    Tigers are CAA Champions!

Beating Delaware and Drexel to win a championship is like having Halloween and Easter on back-to-back days as a kid. Those Game of Thrones characters could take some lessons from us on how to slay a dragon. Hopefully we play on Saturday cuz I'll be on a flight Sunday afternoon during when gametime would likely be.

    TOWSON 18, CHICKENS 11

https://towsontigers.com/news/2019/5/2/records-abound-as-mens-lacrosse-advances-to-caa-title-game.aspx SUCK IT, CHICKENS!!! McNallen gets my MVP vote for the way he DOMINATED the X tonite. We seemed to be having trouble the last couple of games with Woodall out and this kid stepped in and just tore it up. We get the same performance on Saturday from him and I'll feel pretty good about our chances. I thought the turning point in the game was getting the 3-2 goal from the other side of midfield. Why the F would Delaware set up their goalie to play a pass and leave the net wide open? Yeah, it's a bit of a stretch to think someone could hit it but at that point in the game, we were scuffling on offense and that goal sort of opened things up for us a bit, leading to a 3-0 run. 3rd quarter was total domination and the kind of thing that you love to see when in a close situation. Now let's go kick some Dragon ass on Saturday.

MLax edges Drexel in finale, 11-9

Game's a lot different when you're not winning 75%+ of the faceoffs. But a key win right after that 10-9 goal to get another one real quick to extend the cushion. Definitely gonna need Woodall back for Thursday night. So here's a question that bothered me at the end of the game -- when the other team pulls the goalie, why don't we look to go towards the empty net? Rather than messing around BEHIND the net, how about driving you man to the net and getting a freebie? Instead, we gave the ball up with 30 seconds left up by 2 and who knows what can happen in that situation.

    National Champs!?!?!

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball. Does the banner hang in SECU or Burdick?

    In other CAA news

The team of Brantley, Cacok, Pusica, and Wright-Foreman won the college 3 on 3 championship for $100,000 in Minneapolis on Sunday. Wright-Foreman threw in a number of stupid 3s in the corner. That’s a rather formidable team to go against.

    MLax crushes Fairfield, 14-7

Nice to see them get out to that 5-0 start once they got the cobwebs out in the first 8-9 minutes. Didn't allow an inferior team to hang around too long.

    TOWSON 10, HOFSTRA 9

https://towsontigers.com/news/2019/3/30/mens-lacrosse-mid-game-surge-pushes-no-10-towson-past-hofstra.aspx Wasn't pretty but we'll take the win. Still way too many sloppy turnovers and the Hofstra goalie played really well. Fortunately, our defense woke up in the 2nd half and kept Hofstra at bay for most of the final 30 minutes. But there's still a lot to improve upon.

Mlax falls to No.13 Denver, 7-6

The turnovers in the last 2 games I’ve watched (today and Cornell) are maddening. This stuff wasn’t going on the first few games of the year. We threw away so many possessions in the first half and even got a shot clock violation. It’s like we’ve taken a couple steps back after ascending the mountain.

    WBB media thread

We might get our ears kicked in tomorrow night but I think playing UCONN in this first Tourney game will do more for this program than if we were playing really anyone else in the women's game.
  17. Chris Datres

    UConn?

I got in on the show after they had revealed Albany so as they're going thru all the rest of the regions (and they didn't have the ticker going) and not seeing us, I'm thinking that it would be weird to be the last team to be revealed but I wouldn't want to play Oregon. And then the ticker comes up and I see UCONN. Nice reward for making your first-ever Dance. But hey, stranger things have happened.
  18. https://towsontigers.com/index.aspx Put on your dancing shoes, ladies!! Caught the last 8 minutes and despite the turnovers, they locked it down when they could have easily sunk. Congrats to the players and Coach Rich for this amazing performance and Mayo is a stone-cold killer with that big jumper with under a minute to go plus the free throws. Looking forward to see who the committee gives us.

    Cornell Lax update

Fun while it lasted. The turnover virus hasn’t been completely cured yet. Make adjustments and go get the Pukies next week.
  23. Curious as to what Skerry's complaint was about the table. I couldn't watch any of the game thanks to work purposes. At one point, I see up 4 with 2:30 left and then I'm in the car and we've lost. The words out of my mouth were, 'fitting way to end this season'. There's a lot to be said about lack of skill level when it comes to this edition of Towson basketball. But you don't lose this many close games unless you're missing something and that's basketball smarts. I've harped on it numerous times throughout the season but a number of players on this team were not very basketball smart this season. One improvement that will be desperately needed for next season is someone, whether it's a returner or a newbie, to step up and be a vocal leader on the court to calm the ship when it starts listing. I didn't see any of that on this year's team. You can only coach so much from the sideline. It's up to the players on the floor to take control of things both physically and mentally in order to win close games and this year, we didn't have it.

CAA Tournament Complete Guide & 1st-Game Picks

It's horrendous. It's supposed to be about information and numbers and notes, not how much cutesy, cliche prose you can write up in your previews and game recaps. It's a wonder that other media outlets are able to get the correct information about us sometimes. Fun fact, when we put up over 100 against someone a couple of years ago, the postgame note was that it was the first time we scored over 100 since beating Washington in 1996, which is true. Problem was that it was Washington COLLEGE that we put 100 on and the postgame note was that it was against the HUSKIES!! I had to send an e-mail on that correction. Makes it real difficult sometimes to get concise numbers when doing research on a team for a broadcast or story if you don't have the right info.

I guess this poses as a Towson tournament preview but it reads like a cliche-ridden, bad speech from a coach who failed Motivation 101. https://towsontigers.com/news/2019/3/5/mens-basketball-with-belief-and-purpose-towson-dreaming-big.aspx Who writes this stuff?
