You can't reason with stupid. The best feature on this board is the ignore link so now I don't have to read it anymore unless someone quotes it. And then I have to scroll past it. You've got it right. Basketball happened tonight. The other team is on scholarship too and they made the plays that we usually do. That's life in a 1-bid league -- one bad night as a 1-seed and you're off to the NIT. We can ask Texas State about that after their no-show as a 1 in the Sun Belt. If not for a miracle, Chattanooga would have been seeking the same answers as to why.

Possible but unlikely. I can't imagine we'll be a top-16 seed and they'll give those to the schools from the bigger conferences who will bring in the bigger gates. Only way I could see us getting a home game is if we're seeded like a 5 or 6, win the first game, and then get an upset in the other game that's matched up with us.

Nothing. We just have people on this board who see things in black and white. He's been deserving of criticism in the past. This season, not at all. That's not putting someone on a pedestal. That's actually analyzing a situation as it happens rather than bringing in prejudiced thinking.

Just not our night. Chickens knocked down shots we normally knock down in crucial times and they got the key offensive rebounds that normally we gobble up. We missed open looks, free throws, and bunnies. When you're a team that thrives on the outside game, you're gonna lose 101 out of 100 times when they're not going down since the inside game won't be opened up. Every time we got it down to one possession, we couldn't get that defensive stop to get the ball back to potentially tie it. That's basketball. Unfortunately, it didn't happen for us tonight. Regroup, get healthy, and see what we draw in the NIT. We can be a dangerous team in that tournament with the right draw against an unmotivated team.

About as torn up as I was for the quarterfinal. This is why ‘expectations’ sucks. I’d feel much better if Thompson was 100% because his presence opens up everything. Need a faster start and that will be achieved by getting into the paint early and working out rather than housting 3’s to start the game like yesterday.

The 17-2 run at the beginning of the resumption was just a carryover from the last 2 games against Madison. The team is just in another zone right now and it's pretty scary to watch. But I think the biggest play of the game was Skerry calling timeout with 5:14 left after we got a layup to go up by 4. The previous few possessions were rocky and we were teetering on letting the Chickens take back some control. We come out of the timeout and get a stop and then run a set play to get another bucket and we were right back on our way. The ability to see that and get them refocused was a huge key.

If my emotional level for a regular season championship is any indication, I'll be a total mess watching these tournament games. These guys LAUGHED at that 9-point deficit and just as I suspected, they had the lead by the first TV timeout. Chickens never had a chance after that initial deluge. This team is peaking at the exact right time and they're not to be messed with right now. We get to enjoy this for 4-5 days and then it's time to get back to the nitty gritty for the ultimate goal. In the meantime...IT'S FRICKIN AWESOME TO HAVE *OUR* FANS STORM THE COURT AND *WE* GET TO CUT DOWN SOME NETS. Job #1 complete.

To be fair to the preseason prognosticators, no one, including the most fervent of Towson fans, could have guessed how this team would perform. The returning players didn’t really have a track record that would predict their dramatic improvement. The transfers had some pedigree but chemistry and makeup can’t be predicted by preseason practices. But I think if anyone watched the Albany game, you knew immediately that this team was different than any Skerry team. They started at a B to B+ level and continually improved. As a result, what was said - or in our case, not said - in the preseason has drastically changed.

A bad night for the opening of my baseball season. I may just call all strikes so I can hustle back to the car to check the final score. I'm confident we can erase that deficit quickly and capture that NIT bid and the 1 seed.

If we slip up in the conference tourney, the NIT is a pretty decent consolation prize.

Vegas continues to undervalue UNCW's luck/comeback power factor and I'll continue to ride their ignorance.

Only someone with a loser mentality and hoping for 2nd would be remotely interested in what the 3 & 4 teams need to do. The task is simple and we know it. If Drexel and/or Delaware give us some help, then we’ll happily take it. Fortunately, those on the floor and sidelines are focused on what needs to be done. It’ll be interesting to see how both teams approach the rematch on Saturday. I’ve gotta think we keep feeding CT and hopefully get a few more 3s to drop. We have too many weapons for JMU to deal with and I hope our defense keeps the same focus they had once JMU cut it to 3. It’s awesome that we have a game Saturday that could decide a lot of things. Take care of goal #1 first and work from there.

A little surprising that they didn't think there were any punches thrown in that mess. That alone gets you a 1-game suspension (see, Michigan-Wisconsin, which just had its suspensions handed out).

If Hofstra finishes 3rd, we win the regular season because we swept Hofstra and UNCW split with them. When it's 2 teams and they split with each other, it goes down the conference standings to your record against the next best teams. If it's a 3-way, I believe it goes to total record against the other 2 opponents. We'd be 3-1 and would take that as well. Basically, it comes down to if we can beat JMU both times and UNCW loses one of their Drexel/Delaware games, then the 18:29 against Delaware on Monday will just be window dressing.

Just leave the pages on tanking from that O’s playbook out.
