Elon, Drexel, Delaware are probably the best but I don’t see us facing either. Maybe the Hens in 4-5 or 3-6 game. I wouldn’t mind playing the Tribe again assuming we’re not going to shoot 27% again. But you know it’s going to be Charleston

If we get beat by the same team 3 times in one year, then we don’t deserve it anyways.

Also. Lots of shots were short tonight especially by betrand and Gibson. Fatigue may be setting in with them playing more than they ever have before.

But William and Mary is a good defense team now. Have to give them some credit as their guards were relentless on the permitter and got away with lots of physical play.

Defense and physical play from the geeks?! What is the world coming to?!

If fatigue is a problem for this team, if they can pull out a win against Elon, do you consider resting guys for the Hofstra game?

  3. These guys are playing team basketball and even when the offense isn’t there (last game), they find ways to win (defense and rebounding). I still don’t have the most faith in Skerry with play calling and adjustments, but this team seems to be play well enough to have a chance in the tourney. That being said it is a cautious optimism because of the past. Either way they have got me hooked for better or for worse!

  4. This is a pivotal game for the season for both teams. This team needs to push the pace tonight and play tough defense. Fast breaks after rebounds is the key to this game imo. As for the crowd, wish we could sell 95% of the tickets to our arena for a game.... oh well! Get it Tigers!!!

Only so much you can do with concessions. They opened three in the last game and maybe they can add one more worker, but if hundreds of people come out for halftime and you have three stands open, not much can be done. Now maybe selling something through the stands (people would probably trip) or sell something like drinks outside of the stands in a portable stand or something might help a little.

There has to be more that they can do. If that was the case then if we do fill the arena, nobody will ever come back because of how poor the concessions and bathroom lines would be. We are only getting 2,000 right now. What if we had 4,000 to a sell out? That should not be a problem and they have to fix it otherwise it looks very bush league and pathetic.

Kids don't care. Again, you have to bribe them. Give them 500 shirts or something just to get them there. Free pizza. We probably have 10,000 students living within a mile or so radius. They do come to football games or at least the tailgate.

Bribe them once (especially the fraternities) and hopefully it’s a good game with good environment where people have a good time. Then some come back. Do this once or twice a year and you hopefully build a student fan base. They need to make sure the game experience is on point, players need to get up for it, and no long ass line for concessions.

I'm inclined to believe this streak is a bit of "fool's gold".

It's always great to win and I give the guys credit for finding ways to pull out the W's.  However, we could win out the rest of the year, go 22-9 on the regular season and wind up laying an egg in the CAA Tournament and be left with NOTHING to show for a respectable season...….yet again.  I don't trust Skerry coached teams.  Until he proves otherwise, I don't think Skerry knows how to win when it really matters.

Please, please, please, make me eat crow, Pat.

Maybe so but I’d be much happier watching winning basketball then what we were watching before! Team is offensively is having runs where they weren’t before and the defense has been pretty good (even in losses) all year. Be interesting to see when close games happen how we handle them from here on. Need to prove that and I will be more optimistic for the CAA tourney. Again though, winning is much more fun to watch so flosports has me for a little longer.

  8. With this team, it’s about how we come out to play rather than how we match up. We come out and move the ball around to the open man and push the pace (like the last two games) we can beat JMU. If we come out slow and play a bunch of iso ball and jack up bad threes, we will not fare well.

This team has beaten themselves more than anything up until this last week. They started playing as a team and played with energy and that is what changed. It will be interesting to see if they face adversity in this game, do they revert back to the old ways, or band together and fight as a team.

First half was the best half of the season.  It certainly helped that the shots were dropping from the outside but we took smart shots, we moved the ball on offense and were getting layups and stuff at the rim, and we actually pushed the pace.  I found myself yelling at the TV after rebounds to 'GOOOOO' and beat Drexel down the court.  These guys are athletes and they look like they really wanted to run so let's not hold them back.  Tonight, it worked really well.  Betrand is looking so much better with his shot and you can see that his confidence has grown over the last month.  He and Fobbs could be a real dynamic duo the rest of the way.

Betrand and Fobbs. This is the way.

but seriously we live and die this year by how these to play. If they play well, and everyone else plays good defense and moves the ball on offense, this team can get out of the bottom of the CAA.

  10. Recorded this and watched it when I got home so didn’t get to join the chat. Wow was it nice to see Betrand and Fobbs both on tonight and everybody else playing their roles. Defense was tough as they have been all year. This was the max potential of this offense and we finally got to see it.

Fobbs made shots finally and Betrand has been getting better and better each game. But the ball movement for me was huge to get these guys open lanes and easier shots. Nice to see this team produce offensively.

Still a little worried about Gibson from the 3 point line. Need to be able to hit open 3’s but otherwise it was the peak offensively I think we can be.

No, you misread my statement. I wanted someone in by the spring to learn the offense and the team. They'll likely have one by the late signing period but that means they are still in their second semester at whatever school they are at. Flacco didn't come in until way after Rutgers' spring practice ended.

Ah got cha. Hoping for a dual threat type (even if it’s just a grant Enders type who does it all off bootlegs)

  12. I agree pressing needs to happen more and not these show pressure, back off as soon as they make one pass type presses. Need to be create havoc type presses.

Anyone think maybe that these guys aren’t selfish before getting into this system and the system just makes them start playing selfishly? Also it’s skerry day job to shut down selfishness in practice so it doesn’t translate to them games. I don’t think Gibson is naturally a selfish player but even he’s has fallen into the system of selfishness a little.

As for the recruits and recruiting, I agree he recruits the same type of guys and I don’t like it either, but I think the woes on offense are scheme and coaching related more than recruit related. Fobbs has regressed offensively and Gibson hasn’t played to his potential. No reason these guys shouldn’t be getting better other than coaching and creating mental toughness

Will be at the game Monday to and will probably be the only two games I get to make this year. Praying that this one is a better showing then the other.....

  13. Went to this game since I was in town for the holidays. Wow skerry can’t coach. And his players quit on him during this game. He needs to revamp this offense. These guys have no confidence in the system they are running on offense which I don’t blame them because it is hot garbage. This is not a bad team defensively but I think a major overhaul needs to happen for the offensive scheme and it needs to start now.

Whether you want to blame the system or the players, only one of them is changeable now and as coach it’s your job to make the best with what you got now and skerry has not done that up to this point. They have regressed offensively as the season has gone on and that is unacceptable

  14. We played very well first half but until I see this team play a whole game like that, we will be nothing but middle of the pack CAA. Just keep playing Gibson to develop him and hope he can carry this team to something by his senior year. Wish I was more hopeful but we keep losing the same way to good teams and that’s in the second half of games.

Sorry I meant had*** And 2012 when he was a student dude was at EVERY single game. Probably not the guy to question his Towson spirit lol. But I can definitely shoot him a DM

2012 might bitch and complain a lot but dude puts his money where his mouth is. Season tickets to basketball and football every year and gives back to athletics. Hope the horse is doing the same after he graduated.
