Football ranked 25th by Athlon

Do you think we’ll be good enough to finish the season a top 25 team? Can we go in to College Park and pull off an upset against Maryland?

Weeks 2,3,4-The tigers should be able to take care of business at home against Morgan State, Stony brook, and Dartmouth

weeks 5,6-Then it’s tough sledding @ Villanova followed by James Madison at home. Could be a two game losing skid here

Week 7-get the W at Richmond

Week 8-Toss up game, could get the W against New Hampshire or have a sloppy home loss as we see from time to time.

Week 9-go into Delaware and get the dub on the road for rivalry week

Weeks 10,11-finish off the year with wins against Elon and Rhode Island.

by this guess we would go 8-3 or 7-4 on the season.

Who is gonna run the table in the CAA this year?

No. 7-4 wouldn’t get them ranked or more importantly into the playoffs

Going 3-0 in those first 3 home games is very presumptuous of you. We have been a bad home team for a while now.

jmu has some new players and qb to work in and a weeks one game against Delaware. But If they can get past them, they prolly win out. Albany could make same noise with their qbs and wrs... their best three opponents, Del, jmu and nova all need to head up there

Everything is dependent on health. Preseason rankings are nice. Street & Smith's had us 18th and that's well before they knew about Constantine. Five starters are coming back from ACL injuries: RB Shane Simpson, ILB Ricky DeBerry, S Jamal Gay, DT Ron Johnson and OT Damian Bryant (Hurt in camp). Let's not forget losing starting CB Brandon Shuman after the Florida game (we had a bunch of injuries in that game) and star WR Jabari Allen for most of the year with a sprained knee. RB Kobe Young redshirts due to an injury. Most of our defensive transfers were hurt or had nagging injuries that kept them from playing full reps including DT Jesus Gibbs, DB Robert Topps, DL Quashon Alexander and DE Marcus Bowman.

I worry about that first game against Maryland, even though we need it financially. Our guys will have maybe six weeks to get in condition and they'll be playing an FBS team, good or bad. They still are deeper and bigger. That's assuming we have a season or a full season.

If Johnson, Gibbs, Bowman and DeBerry are healthy. You add Shuman and juco corner Charles Peoples. Gay is back at safety. Jeremiah Wynn in the mix and SJ Brown back as a starter. We should have a much better pass rush and a potentially great D-line. Simpson, Young and Talley at running back. Jabari Allen is a big-time threat at receiver. Darrian Street, Charles Murphy, Caleb Smith, Ryan Rutkowski and Daniel Thompson are strong. The offensive line should be improved if you add Bryant at RT and move Gilmore to right guard (that's 700 pounds on the right side). And four returning starters overall. You add a solid quarterback in Constantine who knows how to win games and you are looking at 8+ wins assuming we don't get ravaged by injuries to key players again. But it's football and coming off no spring. Will be very tough to limit the injuries.
