mat1992 Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=548466&vislive=tows Dylan Williamson scored 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 5-of-6 from three-point land to lead Towson over Northeastern 75-65 on Monday night on CBS Sports. Tyler Tejada added 18 points and tied a career-high with nine rebounds as Towson never trailed in this game. The Tigers shot 11 of 19 (58%) from three-point range and 54% from the field. They also forced 17 turnovers with full-court pressure (mainly in first half) and held the Huskies to 41% from the field. Nendah Tarke added 13 points and five steals. Towson has now won six straight games and improved to 7-1 in the CAA. The only negatives were the last few minutes when the Tigers struggled to inbound the ball against pressure and wound up with 14 turnovers (Williamson with five). Towson was also outrebounded by six. Here are comments from Skerry after the game on TSN "Our defense was really good all night. We thought that we would have more pressure in dead ball situations. It was good for us for the most part. We had really good ball movement that led to open shots. If we could hold them to under 42% shooting, we could win" "He was all over the floor (Tarke). Playing at a high level now. Dylan and Tejada delivered when we needed big shots. Tejada had nine rebounds (ties a career high). Never easy to win up here. Give our guys credit for finding a way. I thought May, Tarke, Lowery did (a good job on Rashod King who had 7 pts). Thought we could wear him down a bit Quick turnaround. Explosive offensive team in Delaware. Really good players. They shoot the three. Good freshman. Hard game. We'll try and put a gameplan together. Hope defense and rebounding travels. Rebounding wasn't as good as it needs to be." Quote
Bay Area Tiger Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 Great chat 💬 👏… 2012 wants me to book the restaurant in Dayton now and so I guess I’ll call tomorrow 😉🍴🕺 All the parts (whether inexpensive, slightly used or made overseas) are fitting together and this team is pulling out wins despite some crazy stat lines. In any case, excellent win, 7 of the last 8, and the ball keeps rollin' !!!🏀🐯 I almost quit following the Tigers early the s month; but old habits are hard to break! Go/Goh Tigers ❤️ 1 Quote
Chris Datres Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 I'm sure there are a few people that were wondering where Christian May was tonight. Well, he was leading the defensive charge against King and helped limit him to basically a non-entity. May might not have scored much (1 basket I think?) but the defensive gameplan was really good. We played with a lot more tempo at the defensive end and forced NE into a lot of things they didn't want to do. To make that defense better, we then ran off the turnovers and took advantage of the miscues. Life is a lot better when shots are going down and we're knocking down the open looks off of the extra pass. I thought the ball distribution was much better in spots at least until the lull at about the 6:00 mark of the first half and then at the end. Good showing on the big screen tonight. Except...at what point are we gonna learn that clockball doesn't work? Yeah, I know, up 14 with 3:00 left, it's in the bag, whatever. We decided not to attack open spots (DW had a wide open 3 from the right wing but because there was 12 on the shot clock, he didn't take it...and then dribbled into a turnover) and tried to bleed the clock. Then we looked like we hadn't ever seen a press. These are the things we can't have happen. They were good against A&T about extending that lead in the last 5 minutes. Tonight, it was a little bit of regression in that department and if NE had their crap together in the last 90 seconds, it could have been a real embarrassment. Goodbye and good riddance to Matthews Arena. Now let's get the Chickens on Thursday. 2 Quote

Goodbye and good riddance to Matthews Arena. Now let's get the Chickens on Thursday. Anybody that watched that game tonight and knows ball, has to credit CMay on that end of the floor. I would love to have him become the next Timberlake with defense or Terry Tarpey but if he can just defend and rebound, the points will come (not in bunches). His defense was fantastic tonight. As for late in the game, I don't mind DWill passing up that three with 12 on the shotclock. The key is getting good shots and getting to the line if you are driving. But there's a time to clock it and a time to score. You don't want to score with 20 seconds left on the shotclock, but if you have a layup, you have to take it. I thought Tarke and DWill both had some questionable decisions late. DWill also had five turnovers. It wasn't pretty late but he also needs help against the press. Maybe should have gone to Hicks as well just as an extra ball handler. 1 Quote
mat1992 Posted January 28 Author Report Posted January 28 Also, let's face it. Even if Bill Coen's record has not been that strong lately and he missed Troutman again tonight, he still came up with some little quirks to get his team back in the game with the full court press in the end and before that, the three-quarter court and halfcourt trap that cost us about 7-8 turnovers (we had 9 in the 2nd half). TSU88 Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 Nice road W in a place we usually struggle. When the 3 headed monster of Tejada, DWill and Tarke are all on, we’re a tough out.,I’d like to see Lowery start over Suliaman, but I doubt Skerry’s going to tinker with the starting lineup, given the roll we’re on. Nice to see Tejada hitting the boards. Would be nice to get a W in what might be our last road game vs DE. A W would put us at 8-1, halfway through conference play 3 Quote
mat1992 Posted January 28 Author Report Posted January 28 I do have to give Tarke his flowers. The guy has been sensational since coming off the bench in six games. Look at his non-conference shooting and his conference shooting. His overall shooting is at 36% FG/28% 3pt/64% FT. In conference, he's averaging 13ppg, 52%/48%/57.1%. Only the free throw shooting has suffered. His only bad game off the bench was when he went 0-6 and 0-3(3pt) against Stony Brook. Towson now has three players averaging over double digits. That doesn't sound like much but last season, we barely had anybody over 10 points per game. Lowery also with 21 blocks overall (1 per game) and apparently had two tonight (thought he had 3-4). But he's a potential performer on all-defensive team. Tarke for 6th man of the year as long as he keeps playing well off the bench. Yes, Lowery should start over Sulaiman, who is the fourth-leading scorer at 7.2ppg, but like to see him rebound more (3.7) in 20mpg. 2 Quote
