  1. I can't believe we get to watch a Towson football game in 12 days. Also can't believe Nathan Kent is our starter going into college Park. I can only imagine the Terps are gonna whoop us bad, but we might have a couple good plays here and there.

Anyone going to the game? How big a Towson fan presence should we anticipate in college Park? How big a Maryland fan attendance should we expect? I know Scott van pelt called the fans out years ago for leaving at half time or not even bothering to leave the frat party to go to the game.

I remember my freshman year at towson the football team played at Maryland and it was a fun trip to visit our terp friends and watch our team lose. Hope there is some excitement amongst the new freshman at TU to get out to some games

  2. Can someone please get the marching band a dp dough calzone or something? They are outraged that they have band practice at the football field and have to walk all the way to the the other side of campus to eat at Newell Dining hall. How could they not have planned better and opened West village commons dining hall? Dr. E give the band geeks some Ledo pizza or something my guy

It’s almost that time again for the Tigers of the volleyball variety, who were unanimously picked to win the CAA for a 5th consecutive season. If you are a casual supporter of the team without much volleyball knowledge, I’ll give you a four-word rundown: you should be excited. The Tigers return basically all of their best players from a team that went 29-2 last year, including the two best attackers in the conference, Outside Hitter Victoria Barrett and Opposite Nina Cajic. All of the key players that they did lose have clear replacements: Fay Bakidimou’s graduation will be mitigated by the arrival of Julia Lenik, a highly-touted prospect from Poland, while losing Lydia Wiers in the middle clears the way for Erin Brothers to step in, who had to sit on the bench all of last season despite being good enough to start for any other team in the conference. Sarah Jordan, who made the all-rookie team last season, returns to start at setter again this year, while Middle Hitter Aayinde Smith, Opposite Irbe Lazda, and Libero Rachel Hess all have 2 years of experience in the starting lineup. Of the other new faces, the most interesting one is not a new face at all, but rather an eyebrow-raising transfer: Opposite Zyare Abdul-Rahim, who spent the last 4 seasons battling against Towson for Hofstra, has chosen to utilize her Covid year to transfer home to Baltimore, to play for the team that originally passed on her, and her old team’s biggest rival. It’s just another in a long line of events sure to make Towson and Hofstra hate each other even more than they already did.

As for the Tigers’ competition, Delaware was picked to finish second in the CAA, and they do look the part. They too are returning almost their entire starting lineup, including 2022 POTY Lani Mason. Last year’s runners-up will be tough and experienced, but still don’t look to be a significant challenge to the ultra-talented Tigers. Hofstra was picked 3rd, and will also be at least as strong as they were last year. Overall, the CAA will likely take a step forward from 2022, as many key players are returning, and the addition of a solid program in Campbell also strengthens the league. Even so, the Tigers appear head-and-shoulders above the rest.

I hope DraftKings lets me bet on the towson girls to win it all. You seem to know a lot about the team. Are you the coach?

Agreed on Paar. He is solid inside depth that I think can be serviceable for us off the bench. In this day and age of kids transferring left and right, it is great that despite his injuries he has stuck with it and will have a chance to be part of this program on the floor again this year. This seems like it could be a very physical and athletic team.

He looks much leaner and should be able to move more swiftly than two years ago. I think he got used to being the biggest on the floor and could bully defenders with a power dribble into contact then lay it in. But at the D1 level you can’t post everybody up in this league as a chubby white boy. He should be able to score more this year and facilitate with good passing and pulling down rebounds. Cole parr looks better physically too

Not much evidence of excitement for the season on this board. Maybe that's because fewer people pay attention to TowsonFans.com in the summer, but I hope that changes

@mat1992 the mobile website says “not secure” i think that scares people off from coming on the site. Anyway to change the website to secure?

  6. Also love Dr. E idk how tf he is he so young and handsome looking AND he’s a doctor with a family AND he’s an A.D.

also love Jake Shindel everybody should engage with his content on Twitter for towson mailbag tuesdays. Support student sports journalist. Get him some NIL money. Get my man Jake a bagel

  7. V exciting news that towson has switched over from Pepsi to Coke! I begrudgingly drank wild cherry Pepsi in ptux everyday for lunch

also v exciting that it’s a new coach, new look, mystery bag type year. Can pistol Pete hang at this level? Which was once the SEC of FCS football but not anymore. Idk wtf is gonna happen at QB. I also don’t know wtf is gonna happen at running back if Mat said we don’t have a T-west, Vito, Shane type. Defense has never been our strong point so idk wtf to expect there either

D’ago Hunter is pretty darn good on special teams I know that. However, he is very small and not intimidating

I’m excited for the post ambrose era. That era was getting stale and we needed new energy. I hope the giveaways will draw some fans for the new coach

if we sneak up on some people and stack a few consecutive wins together, the home game against Delaware becomes more interesting. Could we see the first sellout at Johnny U since idk when?

  8. The boys are 5-0 undefeated international champions. Conquered the great white north. Judging by some of the scores it appears we were playing against the little sisters of the poor, but all in all a positive trip. Glad lots of guys played and got some game experience. That will go a long way as far as their confidence scoring in a real D1 game.

intrigued by the new Coppin guard. Could be an instant replacement for Conway, transfer portal is wild. You can essentially Amazon prime a guy for whatever position whatever sport you need and he’ll be on campus in two days!

  9. We really can’t have nice things can we? Could have really used his 3 point shooting. Him going to jail certainly throws a wrench in the rotation. Awful stain on the program

i know Spiro and skerry are not happy

    sad for all parties involved

at least he has a good lawyer? Pessin Katz is the big towson firm

at least we won in Canada without him?
