I assume this means he’s committing. 6’6 220 lbs. Avg’d 10ppg (well, 9.8, but might as well say 10) in only 22mpg last season, against what I think is comparable competition at Wofford. Shot 57% from the field, but is not a 3-point shooter at all. Also avg’d 5.4 rpg.

Maybe not the “sexiest” get, but a solid one nonetheless. He should be able to help CT on the boards and hopefully can exceed his scoring average from last season, as he’ll presumably get more than 22 minutes a game with us.

We still, IMHO, need a wing who can score, with the 1 remaining ship.

So, we're at the last ship already and it could happen this week. Should we go with a shooter like Jayvis Harvey from Tenn Tech, who I don't even know when he's going to narrow his list down and start taking visits. That 43% from 3-point range is very impressive, but can he defend or get to the basket? I don't quite see a lot of drives in his highlights or great quickness. Jones will help some in terms of a low-post finisher with both hands. If they can push the ball more, he has the ability to beat his man down the floor assuming he's back to his pre-injury form. But IMO, adding a wing who can create his own shot is a must. It would be nice if he can also make 35% of his threes, but can't have it all. As for point guard, since Thompson and Jones are not perimeter threats, Hicks, while steady, is not a great fit unless he improves his shot tremendously. Williamson has a jumper, can break a defense down some and defends pretty well. That's the MO but have to see that in intrasquad scrimmages and exhibition games (or closed scrimmages) and then it might translate to the games. I think redshirting Williamson from the jump was the right move because he put on some much-needed size. But if they knew Gibson was going to miss the season, I'm sure they would have given him a shot.

PG Williamson, Hicks

SG Conway, Jaiden Cole

Wing/SF May, transfer, Mekhi Lowery

PF M. Jones, Tyler Tejada, TYler Coleman

C CT, Biekeu, Chase Paar, Cole Paar

Jamir Chaplin is visiting this week. Dissecting his game, he’s not a great fit unless we push the ball a lot more next season
