Coming off a 51-13 loss to Delaware at home, Towson found the comforts of the road and beat the North Carolina A&T Aggies on their Homecoming 42-32 on Saturday. Devin Mathews rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns, while Nathan Kent threw for 263 yards and two scores.

This was a rough day for both defenses. Towson played in the secondary without their starting corner Charles Peoples and their number three corner Shafeek Smith. Mason Woods (shoulder) who was already playing with an injured hand, left the game early and the defense kept gradually getting worse, despite the fact that the Aggies went to their backup quarterback.

Eli Brickhandler threw for 181 yards with one TD and one pick. The Aggies ran for 253 yards and had 501 total yards of offense. Towson had 442 yards of total offense and had a strong game from Christian Watkins, who rushed for 63 yards on nine carries, including a 34-yard TD run where he carried several tacklers into the end zone. Lukkas Londono had a career game with six catches for 126 yards and Zay Perkins caught three for 66 yards and a score. It looked like had a second touchdown after a remarkable catch in the corner of the end zone, but it was ruled incomplete and Kent hit Daniel Thompson for a touchdown on the next play. Towson also committed nine penalties for 81 yards.

So what did we learn from this? Not only does Towson still need to be more disciplined overall and eliminate the penalties, but the tackling today was abysmal. You can't expect the offense to put up more than 40 points next week and beat Villanova. However, that might be their only recourse.

The Road Warriors do it again. Tell ‘em Hawk!! (Little old school rasslin reference).

Our O-Line played a helluva game. Kept Kent clean and opened holes for the RB’s. Helluva game for Matthews and Watkins with a highlight reel TD run. Kudos to the WR’s too. Thompson with the TD catch, Perkins with 1 too (he was jobbed of a 2nd one by the refs, but that allowed Thompson to get his) and a big game from Londano, with what I think was our longest pass play of the season.

Credit due also to Kent. No turnovers and he made a couple of nice throws for big plays.  The punter also deserves a thumbs up, especially with that coffin corner kick in the first half.

The D, well, um, you see, hold on, wait a sec, see it’s like this…. Trying to sugarcoat how bad it is, although they were undermanned today. Agriculture had 500 yards offense. I believe their previous season high was 370. We made their RB look like Christian McCaffrey, and for the 2nd week in a row we made a backup QB look like a pro prospect.

Memo to opposing teams: you might want to reconsider scheduling us as your homecoming patsy. Ask NCAT & W&M if you’re not sure

Watkins with IMO the run of the year. Finally figured out how to paste X videos the right way. Instead of copying from the below arrow, just go to the middle of the video, right click Copy Video Address and paste it. Can't believe it took me so long to figure it out.
