I would have preferred more defensive transfers. There's still time for that after the spring. I'll have to chat with Coach Pete about these recruits. mat1992 2,235 Report post Posted February 8 Ok, this overall freshman class looks pretty damn good and we added: 1)A potential starting RB in Ike Watkins who was a 3* recruit from Virginia who played some at Syracuse. 2)After losing Mason Woods to the portal, LB John Gioia (Wagner) is an experienced inside linebacker who had 85 tackles to rank third in the NEC last season. Also, lost Jamal Gay to graduation. We add Gioia (6-1, 230), William Middleton (5-11, 215) a Saint Francis transfer, who was second-team All-NEC last season with 68 tackles. LB Brandon Peters (6-1, 215) from Iowa Central CC. adds 4.6 40 speed. Three linebackers but desperately need an EDGE. Can still add a transfer after the spring. 3)DBs were a problem last season and our best player Robert Javier is attempting to make some $$$ at the next level. Aside from some VERY talented freshmen, who may or not be ready, Pete Shinnock added Kaden White (6-1, 190), a transfer from Butler CC, who had 3 picks last season and also played at Miss. Valley State for two seasons, Was a 2* recruit coming out of HS. They added four freshmen DBs. 4)Defensive line is always an issue. Jesus Gibbs is gone. They added three freshmen, but they desperately need to replace Gibbs and add some interior pass rush. 5)Offensive line loses Mathias Adjingbaruk to the portal. They should return LT Dan Volpe, C Ralph Paige, RT/G Jean Germain, RG/T K.J. Brooks. A bunch of freshmen who sat out including Ian Markham-Miller. They added Ibrahim Giwa (6-4, 290) from Marist, who can play left or right tackle though may play left guard to replace Mathias. Was second-team All-Pioneer League. Added two big freshmen who should sit out but look at KJ Brooks last season. He eventually became one of the best linemen. 6)Quarterback. Towson didn't sign one in the late signing period. Mat thank you for your excellent information and breakdown of these incoming players. I never get too high or too low when looking at recruiting classes because you just never know when dealing with athletes that play on our level. That being said and of course only time will tell of course how successful this group of players is, I give credit to Pete and his staff as they seemed to have a plan and looks like they followed through on it.
