Hopefully some fresh blood and a new voice can breathe some new life into a program that will already be going over major change this season. Towson, where everyone accepts mediocrity and happy to have coaches and staff with lifetime contracts… envious that he could retire the exact day of turning age 65 though😂😂 Quote
mat1992 Posted June 2, 2023 Author Report Posted June 2, 2023 BTW, O’Connell was named associate head coach in November of 2021 and Clark was named special assistant so this no huge surprise. https://towsontigers.com/news/2021/11/8/towson-mens-basketball-announces-staff-changes-for-the-2021-22-season.aspx Quote
Bay Area Tiger Posted June 2, 2023 Report Posted June 2, 2023 Spoke to Coach Clark back in 2018 when I attended the Elon game…. gem of a man. Quote
mat1992 Posted June 3, 2023 Author Report Posted June 3, 2023 So, we have three assistants. All under 40. Do we turn to a veteran who was a former head coach like Clark was when he joined the program in his early 50s? Or do we go with an assistant, say from the DMV? Or young assistant who is on the rise? Assistants are important and you need good ones who can connect with the players. But with NIL, the recruiting part isn’t quite as important as it once was. Quote

If so, there’s only one coat I wouldn’t want… Pat Kennedy’s trench coat Quote
Bay Area Tiger Posted June 3, 2023 Report Posted June 3, 2023 I heard the story yesterday how Mad Dog Russo’s son Tim landed at Northern Arizona as a 3rd assistant after his stint with UConn. Too late now but he would have been an excellent fit for us as an assistant. No such luck. Quote

Maybe Pat should hire him since he’s God’s gift to basketball knowledge. I have said this many times - the ignore feature is a glorious thing. That and not quoting the trash will make the board experience much better. 3 1 Quote
Chris Datres Posted June 4, 2023 Report Posted June 4, 2023 Had a nice chat with Coach Clark in Savannah in November. It was kinda funny that he knew the high school coach who nearly chased me out of a building after a game a few years ago. That’s a lot of institutional knowledge and strong player connections that will need to be replaced. Very nice tribute video produced for him. 1 Quote
