General Basketball Thread for 2024-25

Who or what has been the cause of the beef between us and Loyola?  The Hounds released their schedule and they've got Lancaster Bible on there as their 2nd game of the season.  I get that there wouldn't be a home-and-home series in season with them but doing a constant home-and-home with them would at least check one home game box for each side every other year.  It's also kind of absurd that two schools that close in proximity don't play each other anymore.

Maybe they add another game for the NorCal trip but not in state..  maybe with a Big Sky team like Northern Arizona or Weber State etc 🙏

If it's Northen Arizona then we could possibly hear Chris "Mad Dog" Russo talk about "Townsend" since his son Timmy is an assistant coach there and Russo always like to recap their games.

Since we aren't playing Power 5/6 or whatever number it is anymore, a MW team wouldn't be bad.  Utah State, Boise St, etc

As mentioned before, we're playing South Carolina. Last time I checked, they were in the SEC. If I didn't mention it in the Eigenbrot interview or any of the Summer Practice reports, then I apologize.

Didn't see that anywhere. I heard South Carolina and know we play them in a few years down in Columbia for football.  Not a bad game though. Those are the type of mid-tier power conference ones we need to play. Granted they did have a good season last year and play solid defense and our physical style..

Loyola doesn't want to play us and I'm not sure it's worth playing them. They are a pretty terrible program right now and their move to the PL compounded that.

I'd rather try to schedule a terrible D1 program than have to schedule a D3 program.  I would hope our marketing department will do something similar with the elementary schools that they did with last season's D3 game so there can be some semblance of a crowd that day.
