W&M and UNCW are dreadful. Elon is way below average. I saw Delaware live and they're nothing special. Charleston just barely survived in OT at home to something called the Blue Hose. Madison has that win over Virginia to hang on their wall and maybe they're the class of the league at the moment. Bottom line is that the way we've started out with these first 11 games, there's no reason why we can't be in the top 3 of the conference in the regular season and be in contention at the conference tourney.

It's too early to tell whether this is a better overall team than the one that had JB on it that won 25 games. We don't have a Jerrelle Benimon or defensive stoppers like Mike Burwell or Marcus Damas. We don't have a guy who can get to the rim and finish under the rim with contact like Guthrie. We don't have a dominant low post guy like Benimon or a defensive big like TJ Parker-Rivera or Bilal Dixon the year before. That team would launch more threes no doubt if they played now. But we do have better shooters, much better passers and a better bench. The bigs are not nearly as good but they can play better and the CAA is not exactly loaded with quality bigs. Beating Kent State and New Mexico away from home is pretty impressive. The Pitt loss was a bad one and Monmouth is really good. They beat Cincinnati. Of course, if we're not behind 24-1, we have a chance there. Sometimes I feel this team plays better on the road and starts out slow at home. I wish Hicks was a little bigger and had a better shot because he changes the game defensively when he's in, esp. when we press or trap. I think it's pretty obvious we need another transfer PG next season when Nolan moves on. Gibby is fine, but I still like him off the ball. The bigger question is the CAA. Is it worse than advertised? Better? When you look at the NET Rankings and they are the ones that matter: (we're 137 on KenPom, Charleson is 179, Hofstra is 143, Delaware is 145, Drexel 178, JMU 166, NE 156) Kent State is 135 in the NET, Monmouth is 43, NM is 132, UNCG s 222. It's kind of like the big boys going on the road against Towson or UMBC. If they don't win by 20 more, it feels like a loss. We've completely dominated locals over the years under Skerry because we have better players and are usually bigger and stronger. Officiating has been worse in the past, but you rarely get the benefit of a call, especially on the road against a local. I'd like to go back and watch Cam Holden's three-pointer that they took away from him that they said he kicked his legs out and took it away. I don't suggest we never play locals. You need to play 2-3 a year. Morgan wanted a guaranteed game. UMBC didn't want to play us with a new coach. It's strange to play just one, unless you count Navy, which could be tough.

And West Virginia in the same season. Before that, St. John's. The Louisville win was in January of 1995. It was one of those last additions to the non-conference schedule. The amazing or strange part of that season was that we went 12-15 and lost by 30 in the first round of the Big South Tournament. That team was a Jekyll-and-Hyde as you could possibly be. I would trade any of those wins for a Big South, AEast, or CAA title, though Louisville was incredible at home.

Us old-timers still have it but that was Louisville and that's going on 27(!!!!) years now.

I guess I would start off asking if anyone knows of Towson alum who have positions in the college athletics at different institutions that are at the Assistant AD level, followed by asking if there are any prominent senior associate ADs locally that people respect, followed by any corporate leaders that anyone thinks could fit the bill (since this has been small trend in some AD hirings recently), or any athletic departments regionally or nationally that people are impressed by who may have high level AD candidates that are realistic. I worked in college athletics in a different state and have known enough to fill in some of these blanks in the past, but I don't really know where to start with names anymore. I know this is pretty much the same type of questions others have, and some may even have more specific ideas. I really liked the background Mike Waddell had when he came here. I also liked his drive to make Towson more known in the community and try to raise the our brand profile. I did not necessarily like that he did that in a way that at least from the outside seemed somewhat financially reckless. That being said, he is the only AD since I started attending in Towson 1993 who thought outside of the box and really pursued a vision of raising the bar. Obviously as someone mentioned in the previous thread, someone with that kind of vision of Towson balanced with a little more fiscal prudence would be good. However, I realize that is very general and as was mentioned earlier the AD will fit in with the university's overall vision of what they want athletics to be moving forward.

I still hope that a "random" season ticket holder, that has not been privy to the internal Towson politics, should be on the committee representing the regular folks who Towson hopes to attract to games. I do understand that the 5 million dollar guy has lots of pull and that type of person has had that influence over the years. We have heard talk by the previous ADs of Tiger Nation. Lets let one of those folks have input in a major decision. .....Plus it would be an awesome PR move
