Towson moves into first place in the CAA after William & Mary upset Maine, 27-20. Tom Flacco completed 23 of 36 for 306 yards for two TDs and two picks, while rushing for 80 yards and two scores to lead the Tigers to a 56-28 road win against Albany on Saturday afternoon. This game was really never in doubt as Flacco recovered from a bit of a slow start to use his legs and his arm to carve up the Great Danes' young defense. Towson ended up with 537 yards and 217 on the ground. Flacco had two picks, but one was a Hail Mary at the end of the half. The other was a poor decision on a throw at the five-yard line on first-and-goal when he tried to his Shane Simpson and was picked off by Kareem Gibson.

Towson had a 38-21 lead at the half and completely shut down the Albany offense until the last drive when backup quarterback Will Brunson led the Great Danes down the field against the subs for the Tigers. The defense held Vinny Testaverde Jr. to just 10-of-22 for 210 yards with one TD and a pick. He did complete two long touchdown passes to Juwan Green, including one late in the first half against double coverage.

Shane Simpson added 42 rushing yards on 11 attempts with a TD and two catches for 21 yards. Yeedee Thaenrat had another long run with a 42-yard TD and had 51 yards on six carries.

Shane Leatherbury had a big game after missing the second half of the William & Mary game with 7 catches for 114 yards and a TD, while Jabari Allen added 7 catches for 90 yards and a TD. Safety Mantriel Reaves led the Tigers with 8 tackles, while backup DE Grant Udinski added two sacks and one forced fumble. DL Tibo Debaille also saw his first action of the season and had a sack and a forced fumble (which somehow they didn't give him credit for). They ruled it a hurry and a pick for John Lambert.

Towson played without Ricky Deberry (ankle) and N. Cook who are expected to return against Delaware. The Tigers are back in action against the Blue Hens on Saturday from Newark at 3:30pm.

Blowing out the bad teams is what this squad should do. Now the real test starts with ranked opponents in our last 4 games.

.....And nobody in the CAA has beaten more ranked teams thus far than Towson
