TSU88 Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 So, after the Monmouth game we’ll have played 2/3 of our conference schedule. I don’t particularly care if we finish first, though that would be nice. The important thing of course is to finish in the top four (and to hopefully finish in a position where we wouldn’t have to play C of C unless it were in the finals) The conference is pretty wide open. I mean who thought before the season that W&M & Campbell would be in play for a top 4 finish? Other than SB & NCAT any team could get hot in DC and win the championship. I’m concerned, given our propensity for falling behind early, and our limited scoring options, that we can string together 3 straight W’s come tournament time, but first things first; let’s lock down a top four finish 2 Quote

mat1992 Posted February 9 Author Report Posted February 9 Ok, so the stats are somewhat misleading. For example, we rank first in the league in points per game allowed (65.5). Yes, a lot of that is pace because we averaged just 67.9 points per game to rank 12th. But in the CAA (12 games), where average 71.1 points to rank 7th and allow 65 points per game to rank 2nd. I'll just list the stats for the 12 games played and if you wonder why we are 11-1 and have won 10 straight, I bolded the reasons. Just conference games only We're third at 6.1 per game in margin (yes, we don't blow many teams out) #We're 11th in field goal percentage at 42.5% and seventh in field goal defense at 42.9% #We're 4th in three-point percentage (yes we are) with 35.6% and 3rd in three-point defense (31.6%) #We're also fourth in three-point field goals made at 8.3 per game #We're 11th in free throw percentage (69.2%). #We're 4th in rebounding margin (+2.2) and first in offensive rebounds (12.8). The rebounding margin is low. #We're second in turnover margin (3.08) and sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.23). #We're fourth in blocked shots (3.5), which is odd considering we don't have a shotblocking center but we do have Mekhi Lowery. We're 13th in assists with 10.42 per game. We're 7th in steals with 6.08 per game #We're fourth in attendance (conference only) with 2,141 per game. UNCW, Charleston and W&M are top three. Conference numbers only #This is pretty high scoring league. Tyler Tejada is 11th in conference play with 16.6 ppg and Dylan Williamson is 16th with 14.7ppg. #Not one player in the top 25 in rebounding. Back to overall where Tejada would be 7th overall i scoring with 16ppg and Will would be 20th at 13.8ppg. Lowery would be 19th in rebounding at 5.6 per game. Overall, FG and 3-point % DWill is 9th at 42.9% (43.2% conference-only) and Tejada is 10th at 41.9% (41.4% conference). Tejada is 6th in free throw shooting (83%) and I guess DWIll does not have enough attempts to rank in the top 8 because he's shooting over 40%, but is 41.8% for three in conference. Tejada also is shooting 86.5% from the FT line in conference. Tarke is at 63.2%. Lowery is averaging 0.9 blocks per game in conference and 0.9 in conference to rank 12th. Bottom line? The stats don't tell the entire story other three-point percentage (35.6%) in conference has been much better that it was in non-conference and overall (32.4%). The three-point defense has been decent all year, but even better in conference. And yes, the competition was better in non-conference and CMay's defense was certainly missed when he was out for those 4 games,. May is shooting 24% from long range and 64% from the line overall. He hasn't been great in conference (26.5% 3pt) and has only gotten to the line 10 ties (made 7). It's certainly not a great rebounding team with Lowery leading with 5.6 rebounds in 22.9 minutes per game. Embeya, Jones and Samb combined for 9.4 rebounds per game. Tarke has certainly played better in CAA play. He's shooting 36.6% from the field, 29.2% from 3 and 66.1% from the line with 4.5 rebounds and 30 steals in 25 games. In conference, he's shooting 49% from the field and 44.7% from long range at 12.3ppg but just 63.2% from the line. 1 Quote

Do you think we’ll see many Delaware fans for their final CAA game in Towson? More if it was a Saturday (man the CAA messing up not putting most of these "rivalry" games on weekends/CBSSN. Charleston/UNCW, Towson/Delaware, on Thursdays.. though better officiating for those).. But they will have a 50-100 crew in their section, including the old Hen with the sign and pom-poms. All above the age 60. 57 minutes ago, Bay Area Tiger said: Bracketology updated today and still a 15 vs Florida in Cleveland A very fair placement. 1 Quote
