#13 Football rocks Albany, 56-28

Recommended Posts

With TU football being where it is and U MD football being down in the dumps, this is the time for the powers at Towson to put on an all out blitz to win fans over. This is the best opportunity in a while.

Huge game coming up vs Delaware, who is one of a bunch of teams right behind us in the conference with 1 loss.

Delaware had just 177 yards of total offense against UNH, but the Hens intercepted three passes, forced a fumble, blocked a punt and ran back a kickoff. So we'll have to contend with what looks like a ball-hawking defense and dangerous special teams. Should be a great game.

I looked at the stats of their QB, & they are fairly pedestrian. I think his completion % is a little over 50. Looks like they have a good 1-2 punch at RB.

On D, they only give up 18 ppg. Only 15 a game if you factor out the 38 that NDSU hung on them.

Actually, though he’s only averaging about 190 ypg passing, the UD QB has 13 TD’s to 4 INT’s. Their top 2 RB’s average on total a little over 100 ypg.

Yes, COMBINEDKane and Lee are averaging about 100 yds pergame (3.2 yds per carry). They are averaging about 325 of total offense per game and giving up 328 per game.  You have to take into account that they played a horrible Lafayette team and Bad New Hampshire and Cornell clubs.

Valid point about their schedule. Other than NDSU (who blew them out) & Elon (who they beat) the combined record of Delaware’s opponents is 13-22.

Upon further review, UD’s opponents have a 25-24 record, while ours have a 21-28 record. We’ve only played 1 team, Stony Brook, with a winning record. Our win over Nova has lost a little luster, given that they are 3-4 on the season thus far.

Exactly. We really haven't had a true test yet from an FCS foe. These last 4 games will tell us if we actually belong or not.

Stony Brook was a test. Ask Rhode Island. Villanova had just beaten Temple so at the time, it was a big test. They have sucked since then so it loses some luster but at the time, that was a damn good road win.

We are good. Really good. Especially on offense. Are we great? That remains to be seen and if it rains Saturday, that helps Delaware and could slow our offense down. We just have to adjust and show we can grind it out. Defense is the biggest question mark. We don't have to be great but we have to stop giving up big plays. Safety plays has got to get better. The middle of the field has to be defended better. The pressure needs to be more consistent but I love the fact we're rotating defensive lineman and without two starters on Saturday, we still managed decent pressure.
