We've done so well with me not being able to watch or listen to the game live that I think I'll do it again for the semifinal game too unless it rains here which is not in the forecast. Impressive effort by the freshmen to carry the day, especially Williamson. Big step up by Tarke to sort of jumpstart things in the 2nd half and get us rolling. The 3-pt defense since the 12:00 mark of the 2nd half vs W&M has been very impressive. That'll be ultra necessary against Charleston as they'll whip it around the perimeter like they did against us in the home game. Only way we're gonna beat them is if we keep up this same defensive effort and if we shoot like we did at their place. Charleston's that white whale that for the most part we haven't been able to take down in a big spot. We've proven they're beatable. Just have to play that same game from January. Oh, and that's another 20-win season. Of course, there will be those who will foolishly place asterisks on it and that's their agenda. Would you prefer the consistent 20-loss seasons from 1998-2011?

It’s better than “University of Townson”

In fairness, this “us against the world” mantra has worked so far. I’d love for him to successfully go back to the well tonight

“University of Towson”. I don’t mean to be overly sensitive to this but I think it speaks to the lack of brand awareness and/or respect our school has even within a 2 hour radius of our campus. This is a Virginia kid who isn’t aware of the proper name of the school…..I can understand if kids from Texas or Minnesota or California, etc. botch it but c’mon, VA should be “Towson country”.

You can win in your first year?! That’s news’

I don’t disagree at all. Winning this tournament is the very least he can do after all the time, grace, patience and extensions he’s been given. The college basketball coaching world is littered with fired coaches who have achieved far more than he has in much shorter time frames.

Interesting catch at the end of Nendah's postgame interview: he was asked about the Towson v. Everybody mindset, and he said they've battled adversity this season. Says they had a rough schedule, and goes on to say "Something with Charles"... https://x.com/FloHoops/status/1766952862729351466?s=20

Got to beat Charleston to get to 20 and hang that 20 win banner that you all love so much! I’ll be at Secu tomorrow before sun rises to help facilities with that, If the upset is pulled!

It’s a moot conversation and one we shouldn’t be having with this coach. If feel like Steve is happy like Tim, but with years left and no one kicking down the door for his services, just let it ride. Can he finally win a big game at towson tomorrow? Will need more on court time from Charles, that Russian kid will eat Paar alive

Ok, finally back. And let's just say that game felt like three games in one. 1)We start the first half with 10 turnovers. We open the first possession trying to get the ball to Charles, which happens in every opener and we fumble the ball away. Then we miss layups so badly that at least half of those misses don't touch the rim. 2)Tejada had three of those turnovers, but he had the miraculous 75-foot buzzer beater at the half where he took the shot without about five seconds left on the game clock, which is usually a no-no. You want to dribble it closer to halfcourt, but these freshmen? 3)I said on the chat that the freshmen had 19 of the team's 29 points at the half and that's a positive. I didn't see UNCW shooting 4 of 21 from three-point for the game and despite having two stars, our defense did a nice job on them. Very nice. It's also tough to defend that team knowing that White is going to get a call nearly every time you breathe on him. 4)The kids were great today. Lowery with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks. Only negative was 0-3 from the line. It's why you can't have him on the floor late in games even on D, because if they miss or make, they will foul him right away if he gets the ball. Tejada wasn't great with 8 pts, 3 rebs, and 3 TOs. 5)Dylan was just fantastic, even if the shooting numbers (3-of-9, 1-3 3pt) weren't great, he was 11 of 11 from the line (or 10 for 11, our boxscore might be wrong). Let's just think about that number. The redshirt freshman from Good Counsel has been in the early sixties lately at the line. But in the last two games, he's 17-of-17 from the line (or 16 of 17). That's clutch and maybe for the first time in a long time, we have a prime time performer. 6)New starting lineup. Pat went with Sulaiman over Jones and Dylan over Tejada. Made sense and it worked for the most part, despite the 10 early turnovers. 7)Going small at around the 11:00 mark. Lowery, May, Thompson, Tejada with Tarke or DWill. Forget Jones or Sulaiman trying to defend White. Go smaller, lighter and quicker. May not work on Monday though against that big squad, but you can try it out. 8)Another weird press conference. Didn't ask about the Charles Thompson flagrant foul. Nobody did. But had they lost, it would have been a big topic considering they started losing the lead after that with Paar struggling though I'm amazed they have him for just one turnover when he dribbled the ball off of his foot at least twice. 9)Tarke's tipped offensive rebound to get another possession was incredible. He has stepped up the last two games with strong defense, he was great on the boards and I think his offense is a luxury. I'll take 15 points, two blocks and five rebounds. He's capable of 12, 5, 3 and 2 steals every night. The assist numbers have gone down as he's played more two next to Dylan. Still like to see an extra pass now an then, but he's doing a better job of attacking the rim.

I agree, but I don’t think we need to have this conversation tonight. There will be plenty or time for recriminations, depending on what happens tomorrow night, but for now, let’s invoke the 24 hour rule

So, what if I told you we’d have 10+ turnovers in the first half; CT would pick up two early fouls and their best player would have 18 points in the first half. Go figure. That Tejada 3 quarter length shot at the first half buzzer was just the tonic we needed. Major props to the law firm of Tejada, Williamson and Lowery. The future is now with our diaper dandies. Williamson has that skill we’ve sorely lacked for a long time, the ability to create his own shot. And if Lowery develops a serviceable jump shot in the offseason, look out. I know many, including myself, have excoriated Tarke, but if we get the last 2 games Tarke next season, we’ve got something (Skerry just needs to somehow limit his 3-point shots). Well, I didn’t think we’d get this far, hopefully we can boldly go where no other Skerry team has gone before. We’re kind of playing with house money at this point. Do I think we’ll beat C of C? Well, I wouldn’t bet my mortgage, but I guess at this point ya gotta believe. Personally, I wish we would have gotten a dunk at the end of the game. You know what they say about karma. To quote that famous philosopher, Kool Mo Dee, UNCW, how ya like us now? Survive and advance just called and said see you tomorrow night.

A good win for sure. All “must-win-game” wins are good. Credit to the players and the coaches for finding a way to get it done today. However, I’m not quite ready to let Pat off the hook. Anything short of the big dance will just be more of the same. I don’t care that it’s CofC tomorrow. Let’s not consider consecutive wins in the CAA Tourney meaningful progress. This isn’t year 2 or 3 of his tenure.

We are gonna beat these guys tomorrow and deep down you know it as well 😉 I can’t promise a 4th win but I can promise a win tomorrow night over Charleston

2012 has no complaints with Towson or skerry on this one. Finally won two in a row! Can we make it 3?! Probably not. Charleston is a machine and has the best 7-8 players on their team and rested and healthy (sheesh I sound like almost all our other posters here)as well we a much better coaching staff. But let’s show some fight and punch them in the face tomorrow. Sprained ankles, hits to the groin, questionable fouls, we faced that all day today. Quite a resolve by the freshmen. Love the fight they had and that last second dunk attempt by lowery. This was the first time in a while “Towson tough and Towson vs everyone” showed up. That team punched back today and it was nice to see. Some of the oldies here hate Delaware and Drexel, for me it was Jmu until they left for greener pasturers, but my dislike for uncw, their coaches, their players and especially their fan base has been second to none. This was a satisfying win.

They knew that Northeastern has serious issues with keeping their team healthy and they just forfeited a game, so smart planning by the athletic department.
