CAA needs to buy out the FLO deal and get on the ESPN platform.

That's not the team that showed up - 15 assists, 10 steals, and great chemistry....Towson could have won by 40. Finally a team that is not solely responsible for offensive rebounds to win

I'm blindsided as well as I can 1000% attest I did not write that. WTF?

I don't think the was mentioned yet, it didnt happen often but it was effective. Picking up full court and making them use both time/energy to get it up. After 2nd made FTs it looks like we went full court press for the majority of the game. Off deadball scenarios it look as though Nolan was at least making their PG work the ball up the floor. Getting those extra 3-5 seconds off the shot clock really throws teams off and makes them rush through their sets. Hats off to the squad tonight, they looked super athletic, strong and fast. Look forward to seeing them in person on Saturday.

Also note that we played probably in front of one the largest crowds we will all year

Wow, I hope you placed that bet. Too bad over here in Maryland we voted in favor of sports gambling over a year ago and they are dragging their feet to pass the bill. Get all the gamblers invested in towson bball! Good teams win, great teams cover!

I am in agreement with most of what I have read on here about last night's season opener. Very impressed with the transfers, particularly Terry Nolan Jr. who led the team with 17 points, also had five assists, and did it in a fairly efficient manner going 6-11 from the field. In fact, five different players (Nolan Jr. Holden, Rizzuto, Thompson and Gibson) took eight or more shots. It is rare during the Skerry or any Towson era that shot distribution has been that good. Timberlake had an off shooting night, and didn't feel compelled to keep shooting like last year. The main point I am making is guys like Thompson, Timberlake and Gibson, who felt like they had to play great to have any chance to win last year are now guys who can blend in, pick and choose opportunities, and not feel the need to force the offense. Those three are all very solid players, but none of them should be trying to take over games unless they are feeling it on a given night. They are just not those type of players. Now they can play to their strengths. There was also a flow to this team that we haven't see for a while at Towson. It was also nice to see an actual effective press and some pretty good team defense at times in the second half. I know this was an Albany team that is a middle-of-the-pack America East squad, but I would still say this was more of a case of Towson playing well (especially in the 2nd half) than Albany playing poorly (although their shooting was pretty bad in the second half). I know this is only one game, but it felt like a different type of Towson team. Finally I wanted to share a stat that I went back and found. This was the biggest margin in a season opener on the road by a Towson team since 1968 when we defeated Salisbury State 93-62. It is a stat that doesn't necessarily mean anything, but still pretty impressive.

I don't want to get too excited over a 21-point road win over a team with a new coach, but the way we played was impressive. The ball movement and extra passing reminded me of the Loyola win in 2018, which was over 20 points. But in that game, I believe we shot light-out and it turned out to be a fluke. We didn't shoot particularly well tonight and still won big because of the defense and of forcing 14 turnovers (10 steals). That's a rarity with this program going back decades. Forcing turnovers. They had 14, it felt like 20 because of Hicks (3 steals), Nolan (2), and Holden (2). I know we can shoot better (29% 3pt, 47% FG), but getting transition buckets off turnovers (21pt) is huge for a team that is not loaded with great shooters. So at this point, we need guys like Timberlake and Gibson to make open shots. Jason needs the benefit of the doubt. He had off-season back surgery and then broke a finger in his hand and just returned to practice last Friday. He was 5 of 9 from the field and 3 of 6 from 3 with 2 assists and played incredibly hard. Down the road in conference play, I think we're either looking at Hicks at the 1 or Gibson at the 2 alongside Nolan and Timberlake. Gibson could be great off the bench, but he needs to play more off the ball. He would be a Sixth Man of the Year candidate. The rotations still seem to be in flux. Are we playing Gray, Paar, Hicks, and Gibson in a nine-man rotation? Is Darrick Jones Jr. the 10th man? Seems like nine guys right now so still a work in progress with minutes and rotations. The key for this team is not to shoot 40% from three. That's not going to happen on most nights. But they need to be around 34%, 72% from the line, force turnovers and limit them on the offensive end. If we continue to pass like that, we should average 14-16 assists per game and hopefully more on nights we shoot well from 3pt. I wouldn't mind a guy who can takeover the game offensively when the game is on the line. But instead of a superstar, we have options like Holden down low or Holden driving and kicking it out, Nolan doesn't seem to afraid to take tough shots (some ?), Rizzuto doesn't just settle for 3s. Will it be good enough at the end? I don't know about the end result, but hopefully this journey will be a fun one. The reason for hope is at the point guard spot. Just like QB, it drives the program. Not only do we have a current one in Nolan, but we may have a future star PG in Hicks, assuming he gets stronger and develops on the offensive end.

Watched the game on ESPN3. A lot to like; the ball movement, athleticism, depth, tenacity on D & the boards. Love what I saw from Nolan, Rizzuto & Holden. Big kudos to Gibby, splashing the 3’s. Thompson was a beast inside. Also got some good minutes I thought from Gray & Hicks. Obviously the foul shooting has to improve. I have no idea if Albany is any good, but to go into their gym (with what looked like a pretty good crowd) and run them off the floor was nice to see. Also liked that we pressed some on D, with some good results. Looks like a 9-man rotation, with the guys I mentioned above, plus Paar & Timberlake. Looking forward to the home opener Saturday

Lots of the turnovers were illegal screens and offensive fouls. Have to be happy with the first game. Another shooter or rim protector would help. But the extra passes abs aggressiveness on defense are something new. If someone can tell skery to press, he never will, when he have an opportunity to step on other teams throats.. that will also help a lot
